What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I did the first steps in my detailing. Taking my time and my 9 year old daughter helped me the entire way. It was an overcast sprinkling day to start. I washed with Adams Strip wash. Dried. Then she and I taped up all the fake chrome and stainless on the car just to be sure it didnt stain...

Using a foam cannon...whats your process

And you leave the soap all on it until you do a final rinse?

How do you choose a quick detailer?

I use #1 because its fairly cheap and easily available OTC. I only use it to dry the vehicle after I use a blower to remove the majority of the water off the paint.

Using a foam cannon...whats your process

Just trying to see how others use the foam cannon if they own one. Do you foam once then two bucket? Do you foam once and just use a mitt all over and one bucket? What do you guys do?

    So close to starting

Thank you for the encouragement! :-) Thanks for the heads up! I do have that type of trim around my windows. Will painters tape (Planned to tape it anyway) protect it? Or should I have a wipe rag with detailer on it to immediately wipe it off the tape? Just blue 3m Painters tape. Yes...

    So close to starting

Over the last couple months I have been collecting supplies to do my first "real" detail. My Fusion (White Platinum tricoat) will be my first to do a true DA polish and coat with SiO2 stuff from WG. I am excited and nervous at the same time as while its not a fancy car it still looks brand new...

303 Interior Protectant - Which One?

Does it have a negative for you or you just have a more preferred product? When 303 got sold I SWEAR they cheaped out on the formula.

    Ceramic coating vs PPF

To have the whole front of the Rav done (hood, bumper, fenders) was about 1600. To do the templates was like 1500. I cannot answer about the film as I have never removed film on my vehicles. I will say I had 3m on my 2001 Maxima (done in 2001) and xPel on my wifes Rav in 2019. Material...

    Ceramic coating vs PPF

If your PPF installed offers a wrap around option take it. My installer basically just charged me the additional material to make the hood and fenders wrap. It was almost trivial in cost. Its a cleaner look. WAY more easy to clean and detail (no lines to tape off). If you get precut/pattern...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

A simple wash and spray wax using OTC products. I am finishing up my inventory of OTC stuff before breaking out my inventory of WG stuff. :D Front 1/3 of car (up to the a pillars) is all wrapped edge to edge with xPel.

Topper for Wolfgang SIO2 paint sealant?

How did you like the SiO2? I got the "whole shabang". Now just need a DA to do the process. I intend to use the Silica SiO2 spray after washing. Might be overkill but...

Should I be looking at a sealant, wax, or coating for PPF? I don't want to have to polish off in the future.

I have xPel PPF on my wifes Rav. While Megs Ultimate Liquid Wax is decent...the hydrophobic tendencies die pretty quick on the PPF portion of the car. The PPF part will have much larger beads and some standing water while the paint (done at the same time) will have super tight beads. I...

    Good touch up paint?

I like your thinking. Try to fix it yourself with the understanding if it doesnt meet your expectation you will have the body shop do it. I think the toughest part will be the blending into existing panels as I don't think there is a way to "age" the paint in the can to get close to how your...
