    Seeking Advice

I've removed worse scratches, by hand (that's all I know), with 3M Compound. That FG should rock. Why ask if you can "get away with" finishing polish, rinseless wash, sealant, and shampoo -- on a Scratch? You already know FG and maybe the TSR are the things to try. :dunno:

A few questions before I turn on my GG6

Odd that Griots can't control the manufacturer in such a simple matter as leaving out that bag of wires. Thanks Tato. I've learned a lot so far. So much, in fact, that I'm ready to post my first How-To. Look for it, it's called "Compound, Polish, and Wax in One Step with 6" DA".

Is an IPA wipe down necessary/recommended after Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0?

Looks great!! I like the fronts of those Acuras. I've been curious about Adams Buttery Wax for a while. Might be a little easier than Collinite 845.

A few questions before I turn on my GG6

Thanks for the great responses everyone! My first impressions of the machine, on a practice car, is that I'm gonna take that handle off!

Is an IPA wipe down necessary/recommended after Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0?

I have used, and still have some, P21 Paintwork Cleanser, but the IPA was just so easy, I didn't see the point of the P21, but I'll rethink that now.

    Chemical Guys in Houston

Good advice. In the 90's, I had a brick and mortar shop (not detailing related). In order to make a "living" at it, the doors had to be constantly swinging with a box in everybody's hand as they left. Even then, maybe $30k profit in a good year. Luckily my old job took me back. I never regret...

A few questions before I turn on my GG6

I've worked by hand all my life because I just do my own cars, and I enjoy taking it slow - one panel per night - that kind of thing. However, this latest used car needs some swirl repair that these old arms ain't fit for correcting. So I got me a GG. The owner's manual for this thing leaves a...

Is an IPA wipe down necessary/recommended after Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0?

Thanks allenk4 and loudgod2 for calibrating my thoughts on IPA. I recently used 40% IPA on some panels. My wiping induced tracers and I second guessed everything I knew about towels! I have since made a 20% solution, and have used it to good effect, but I think I will dilute it more. How...

    Question about PBW SSR2.5

Great information Setec, I thank you very much! I can't wait to start up the new DA and give this SSR a proper break down. I think I also used too much product for the 8" by 6" area, and it never had a chance to break down. I bought a machine polish on purpose because I need something stronger...

    Question about PBW SSR2.5

Good point. I doubt I broke it down enough. The pad was moist with S&W and the polish never really became dry or dusted. With a mechanical polish, if you stop too soon, in the middle of the process, should you expect swirls, or just a general lack of results?

    Question about PBW SSR2.5

To test a new bottle of SSR2.5, I used an Orange pad and the polish by hand on a small rectangular taped-off area. The idea was to do this test by hand before I use my new Griots buffer. The polish instilled more swirls than were originally there. These new swirls were finer and much closer in...

Car cleaned / maintained with Waterless Wash - Can it be detailed?

But you're obviously a pro. You know what to look for. I think the OP is comming at this like me, as a weekend warrior enthusiast. As wonderful as the No-Rinse phenomenon is, there's nothing like a blast of water to wash off impurities, and it costs nickels.

Car cleaned / maintained with Waterless Wash - Can it be detailed?

I can't imagine a bucket-less, hose-less wash being the same as a waterless, no matter what it looks like. If the water and hose is an issue, go to a self-serve car wash and use the wand ONLY, no chemicals, and give it a good spray. Then bring it home and do your waterless. Then clay.

bring the shine to the car

Might try some Menzerna PF 2500 (especially since it looks like you like Menz anyway), with an Orange pad. That fender looks to be oxidized or maybe overwashed with harsh detergent. The yellow pad with Black Light is much more pad than it is polish.

Looking for an economical trip protectant that doesn't drool

I use Chemical Guys Silk Shine Dressing Protectant on tires, and it lasts much longer than other dressings, and looks great. For some reason, I'm devoting that to tires. I use 303 Aerospace Protectant on gaskets and moldings, and if they need the black back, I've had good success with Solution...
