    Pictures of Marring/Micro Marring?

How about you post pictures of what you are seeing instead? Typically a combo of both product and pad. Some compounds finish out better than others. Utimate Compound and FG400 come to mind. What product did you use with the Cyan pad?

    Vinegar additions

This is what I was going to add. Many RW's (not saying "all") advertise that their product is a "water softener". So I personally wouldn't add vinegar to my RW solution. Since my RW towels are loaded with solution when they go into the wash, I bank on that softening the water a little bit...

It Is Supose to Be 6 Degrees Saturday

Around here they usually have the hot water running through the wand at all times so things won't freeze...the ones that stay open in extreme cold anyway.

    GG 3" Polisher

I just use my GG6 with 3.5 inch backing plate and 4 inch pads for those smaller areas you reference. Have a 3" BP too, but I haven't tried any 3" pads. The only 3" pads I have right now are Megs MF that I haven't used yet.

It Is Supose to Be 6 Degrees Saturday

Agree, even with hot water in the RW bucket, my hands still get way cold between trips to the bucket. Plus, like you said, the products don't work as well. It's tougher to get the RW dried without streaking. Between Dec - Mar I probably do about 10-12 touchless washes and my Coll 845 seems to...

    UC followed by ScratchX 2.0

^ +1. Are the HF orange pads for cutting/compound? If so, get some polishing pads to use with the UP. I'd recommend a finishing pad for the UW unless you are going to apply by hand.

    UC followed by ScratchX 2.0

ScratchX is 2 steps down in aggressiveness from UC. It would be on the aggressive end of medium polishes. I think you want a finishing polish and since Ultimate Polish is readily available and cheap at big box stores, I would recommend that route.

    UC followed by ScratchX 2.0

I would finish with Ultimate Polish or M205 if you are trying to enhance the paint a little further. UC usually finishes out pretty nice on its own though.

It Is Supose to Be 6 Degrees Saturday

100%. Pressure washing, even with the harsh soap they spit out, will not remove all the dirt and grime (road film) that sticks to the paint. If you towel afterwards, you will just be grinding that left over film into your paint. If you have a sealant on your paint, I wouldn't use the soap...

    NOTHING will protect this Accord!

I agree. I have done a lot of Honda's and yet to clay one without marring it. And I use Pinnacle Ultra Poly which is probably one of the least aggressive clays. Regardless of the paint system, if I am going to clay, I am going to polish.

    NOTHING will protect this Accord!

Actually the first time I did mine, I didn't wipe it down after UC. Just went straight to BFWD. Didn't cause any issues, but now I use 15% IPA between polish and sealant steps.

    NOTHING will protect this Accord!

Even though you weren't talking to me, when I got my 2013 Accord, I first ran over it with Meguiars Ultimate Compound (after a Dawn wash and clay treatment). I went straight to BFWD after that followed by 2 coats of Crystal Seal. Since then only a light polish 2 times per year (M205 or Menz...

    Newbie polishing questions.

I'd go with the Griot's 6" over the PC. More power and lifetime warranty (I've had to use it, Griot's is great with handling it) Get a 5" backing plate and purchase LC flat pads 5.5". Orange for compounding, and white for polishing. Look into Lake Country Hydrotech 4" red pads for applying...

It Is Supose to Be 6 Degrees Saturday

Umm, first of all, I would absolutely not use a towel on a car that was only pressure washed. Do the pressure wash then go home and do a rinseless wash.

    NOTHING will protect this Accord!

You should be getting 6 months out of BFWD. After you clay are you performing the baggie test to make sure all the contaminants are removed? I would definitely polish it with something like M205 then try again. Consider topping BFWD with BF Crystal Seal, which I love on white (it has a...

    BlackFire's Weekly Special @Blackfirewax.com

I think BF is more heavily marketed by PBMG over on Autopia. They have various BF subforums over there including a blackfirewax.com subforum.

    Help with headlamp restoration

Agree. Probably don't need to start at 800 either. I haven't found a need to go more aggressive than 1500. I try to start at 2000, then 3000, then compound, then polish, then sealant.

    HELP Please!

    1) You need to post some pics 2) Did you tape each section as you went? That's probably why you were spewing foam around (from hitting the tape). You only need to tape for your test spot.

After a long time away, I'm back (if you care)

Welcome back. Finally, I get to see Gary Coleman, the Hoff, and KITT all together again! :dblthumb2:
