First time DA'ing! Pad care and storage questions!

I'm pretty similar to dlc95. I brush the pad after 2 sections. I used to use the towel method like Mike Phillips does until one time the towel got wrapped in the spindle and blew my machine. Luckily Griot's replaced it with the lifetime warranty. Now I'll just wipe it with a towel. After...

Best wax for white paint car?

Agree on Coll 845 on white. I like that as well and it's durable. Sometimes you can find Coll 845 at Advance Auto Parts. So if you are looking for something to buy local, this might be a good choice.

    2015 honda civic polishing question

    1. Plenty if you use a fine polish like M205 or similar. Honda paints are typically easy to correct and you don't need to start real aggressive. 2. Typically a repaint will have more clear than the factory. No way to tell for sure without checking with paint thickness gauge though. 3. If you...

Best wax for white paint car?

Blackfire Wet Diamond with Blackfire Crystal Seal over that (12 hours after WD...2 coats of CS one hour apart). I like this on white because it gives a glassy gloss. For darker colors I don't add the Crystal Seal as the Wet Diamond give a nice depth to dark colors.

*NEW* BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating!

Does anyone know if there are certain batch numbers that were/are problematic? Just got my kit today and the stamp reads "15089".

Show Car Garage Video: How To Clean and Protect a Cloth Convertible Top

Bumping this thread as I have thought through how I am going to approach this being my first convertible. Critique as necessary. For the paint decon wash, I will try to avoid the top as much as possible. Once the paint decon is done, I will clean the top with RaggTopp and the RaggTopp brush...

Vacuum detail kit you can't live without

Micro attachment kit! Micro Vacuum Attachment Kit - 7 Piece by Schneider Industries Micro Dis for $8.98 in on Govacuum.com You have to be careful with the small brushes as they have a plastic insert (to keep the bristles from collapsing and diminishing the suction). If you push down too hard...

    Bug and tar removal ?

I also go with the bug sponge whenever I can. Less likelihood of removing the sealant/wax. For the TarX question...I typically go back and rewash the area after a VERY LONG rinse. Make sure to reapply sealant/wax.

Show Car Garage Video: How To Clean and Protect a Cloth Convertible Top

Bumping this thread for a question related to the proper order of things when detailing a car with a convertible top. I am getting ready to do a Porsche Carrera with a black fabric top (I tested it after watching the video above). Typically, I use CG Citrus Wash RED as my initial decon step in...

    Another mistake by the rescuer

My 845 has stayed a liquid consistency since the first time I warmed it up a few years ago. I still put it in the sun before I actually apply it though.

How long does a Iron-x bottle last you?

I say MAYBE 2 midsize sedans or 1.5 SUV's. I'd plan on a whole bottle for a large SUV like a suburban.

    Product Review: BLACKFIRE Crystal Seal

Nice write up. I've been using it for about 3 years. I will disagree about streaking...it always streaks for me. It could be because I use 2 coats as I don't see the streaking as much after 1 coat. I use one spritz per panel and use a crosshatch pattern with a MF applicator. A rinseless...

    S-Corp vs. LLC advantages disadvantages

Not really. I only needed to make about $30k in revenue a year for the S-Corp to make sense. No need to max out salary to FICA threshold. Just have to pay a "reasonable" salary and the rest is passed through on K-1 as "distribution" not dividend. Very important as only C-corp passes through...

    S-Corp vs. LLC advantages disadvantages

Best of both worlds - create a LLC with an S-Corp election. Ultimately, you should consult with an accountant to see which situation is best for you though. I posted this article to the forum a couple weeks ago when someone else was looking into this. Again, no substitute for talking with an...

    Leather cleaning

Even though some APC's indicate they are safe for leather at proper dilutions, I still prefer to use a dedicated leather cleaner. Chemical Guys leather cleaner has worked great for me for 3 years and I dilute it 1:6. I finish with a filtered water wipedown, then apply a protectant. Currently...

    Cleaning Interior between Full Details

Unless you get your car really dirty inside between major details, you are only going to have mostly dust. I will typically just wipe down all the plastics with a dry MF and it picks up the dust and holds it due to the static properties of MF. I will fully clean/protect my leather armrest in...

    Packing nuts?

My last order a couple months ago I requested paper packing and got the paper. I'm sure it gets missed from time-to-time. There are humans packing these boxes. :) Autopia uses paper as default, so I am kind of surprised for efficiency, PBMG doesn't just use the same packing material across...
