Did I really just make this ROOKIE mistake!!!!

You may have induced some micro scratches from applying and removing products and taking some of the bonded contaminants along for the ride. Probably nothing that wouldn't polish out pretty easily though.

What is GM putting on lower panels?

The 9th gen Accords have this too on the lower side rocker panels. I had a 77 camaro painted back in the early 90's and the painter offered this to me for the lower rocker and I did it. So it's been around for a while, just more recently on factory jobs I guess.

2015 Honda Accord - new car prep w/ CQUK

Love it! And he will love the coating too because this paint scratches very easily even with good wash/dry techniques.

    nanoskin

I used the nanoskin blue fine mitt on my black accord a few weeks ago for the first time. I used BF Rinseless Wash diluted 1:16 for lube and didn't notice any marring (lubed liberally). This was after a power rinse, foaming decon wash, and another power rinse. Pinnacle Ultra Poly always left...

    cleaning pads with sealant residue

My sealant pads I just clean the best I can with APC, rinse completely, and then dry and into a ziploc bag labeled with the sealant for that pad. Then just use that pad for the same sealant until it's toast.

    Eagle One Surface Prep Mitt...Amazing

I actually saw this at AA a few weeks ago. The price got my attention compared to my nanoskin mitt. Then I looked close and you can see the fabric through the rubberized material so maybe half as thick as mentioned above. And in the OP pic, I see the rubberized material only goes about 2/3...

Interior: rubber mats and fabric seats

For black plastic and rubber, I prefer Amazing Roll Off. It doesn't leave a dull haze like most APC's do. So I mainly use it on all weather mats and plastic in wheel wells. Rinse, spray, wait, scrub, rinse, dry. For upholstery, I just use CG Lightning Fast diluted 1:20 and my Bissell...

    claying and polishing black paint

Yes, marring is almost guaranteed with black paint. That's why I always plan to polish if I am going to clay. Try switching to Nanoskin products. I just used the mitt for the first time on my soft black honda paint and didn't have any marring.

Review - NEW BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Carnauba Spray Wax!

Yes, that is what I was referring to. Thanks for the input. I have a half gallon of MSID, so it may be a while before I try out the new spray wax. Maybe I'll start giving away some MSID to my few customers to use after their washes.

Review - NEW BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Carnauba Spray Wax!

Nick, what is the difference between this and MSID? Is MSSW replacing MSID? I currently use MSID as a drying aide after a 2BM.

    Post Wash Product

Duragloss Aquawax or Blackfire Polymer Spray. You probably only want to use Aquawax once to twice per month to avoid buildup. I use Aquawax as I am drying the car with the remaining water droplets (drying aide). I use Polymer Spray on a completely dry vehicle. You don't need to go heavy with...

    BF Blackice Haze

Rather than going back through a full detail, maybe try a test panel first, like the trunk lid. Strip it down, light polish to remove BFWD, then IPA and BlackIce. See how that looks through next week and then decide if you are going to re-do the whole car.

Hey John, I will try to reply to you when I have some time to sit down at a computer. Keep in mind I'm certainly not a pro, but I'm 3 years into this detailing bug and give you some feedback and answer your questions based on my personal experience.

I prefer to foam first, power rinse, then 2BM.

    Blackfire Crystal Coat Failure

watch a couple cquartz videos. it's the same technique most of those guys use. why can't there be "techniques"? 80% of what we do in detailing involves techniques, improving on those techniques, and then improving again...

    Blackfire Crystal Coat Failure

A good way to combat this is the tip method. Hold the bottle upright with the tip open. Put the applicator on top and tip the bottle upside down quickly then back upright. For the first use, maybe do this in two spots on the applicator like the 1/3 and 2/3 line. Then for each panel just a...

    best way to store nanoskin

The container was pretty tight on mine, like smushed the mitt against both sides of the plastic. We could have different packaging, but I might give this a try...it was one of my original thoughts.

    best way to store nanoskin

Did some searching and didn't find quite the answer I was looking for. I was thinking I would place a piece of aluminum foil over the sticky part of the mitt, then store it in the plastic container it came in. Will the foil stick to the material or peel right off next time I go to use it...
