Review: SONAX CC36 Ceramic Coating - LC HDO Foam Pads - Makita PO5000C - Supercharged Dodge Yellow Jacket

Mike, You and I occupy different places in this space. I appreciate your position as what I would call a fair representative of all the machines, as I said, showcasing each machine in the best possible way. That's important because people who read this board use all those different tools...

Review: SONAX CC36 Ceramic Coating - LC HDO Foam Pads - Makita PO5000C - Supercharged Dodge Yellow Jacket

Mike, Nice work. You mentioned you might like other Lake Country pads better with the Makita PO5000C. Their new Force pads have become my go to pads - with the exception of the Grey pad which I've found too hard. I did find that it could be softened up by getting it wet, spinning it out...

    Haze and Marring after FG400

Try running the 400 on the orange pad till it shines through. Then wipe off the haze and go over the spot again with just the worn out 400 that's on your pad, there should be enough left to leave a lighter haze. RSW

Mold in Car Interior- Cleaning Tips?

That's likely not a dangerous kind of mold but when I come across mold in cars - barn finds - I put on a mask and gloves and try to wet it as much as possible without disturbing it - I want it dead before it gets airborne and I throw away the cloths I use and wash the brushes in bleach. The...

    Rupes Rotary / LH 19E

Without having the machine in hand or a schematic, it looks like they've used a two stage gear reduction between the motor and the spindle. Since the RPMS run between 450 and 1750, that would make sense because it would let them run the motor at a decent speed while still being able to get the...

Flex 3401 vs. Rupes Mille/Makita P5000C, for those that are wondering.

Todd, The Mille is what the PO5000C should have been. I can't tell you the number of people I've talked to from the various tool manufactures advocating for a tool like that. At the same time, I have to say, there are some things that could be done differently IMHO. If you're going to be...

Be honest - how long would it take you to buff out this car? 1956 Dodge Lancer - Kustom car by Richard Zocchi

Mike, OK, then, since you really did get it ready for cutting - the solvent wipe down - and we both know how diplomatic we're being here, lol, I'll stick to my time frame. Ed is a great guy, you can believe anything he says about me. All the best, RSW

Be honest - how long would it take you to buff out this car? 1956 Dodge Lancer - Kustom car by Richard Zocchi

OK. I would start with the Hitachi SP18VA rotary and use, depending on the result I got, Jescar heavy cut or Menzerna 400 or Wizards Mystic Cut with either the foamed wool pad from Lake Country or the Twisted wool pad depending on how deep the scratches on the paint are and how much correction...

    Difficulty Polishing Single Stage Paint

Hey Mike, We've both been around long enough to have done a lot of cars that were painted with lacquer. Some of the ways we worked then still work but I'm sure we've both abandoned a lot as systems changed and we've had to adapt. I don't know this for sure, but I'd bet when left to our own...

    Difficulty Polishing Single Stage Paint

In the most extreme case, here's what I did. I'm not going to step by step this with pictures because I didn't take any so I'll just describe the process. First, I started at 11AM - I drove the car by a shop where a friend of mine works to show him the car before I started. I'd been trying to...

    Clay Towel vs Disc

I like the clay towel and I might be using it differently from most. First, I get a grout sponge and cut a diamond pattern into it. I make the diamonds about a half inch wide and cut about half way through the sponge. Then, when I use the towel, I wrap it around the cut sponge so the cut...
