A few pics of my new 5x8 detail trailer

Congrats! It looks nice. I would paint the bottom with antifouling (boat) paint and then put down those interlocking rubber squares they have for garages.

    $ opinion needed

Are you paying for the gas and then getting reimbursed? If so, you will be very surprised how much the gas bill will be for a 2 week event. How will tips be handled? I was at an event a few years ago where the handlers would not accept a tip. It was nice because it seperated them from just...

Current business owners: if you had it to do over again, would you?

I don't think the client can't make an appointment through snap, it just shows them if you are available. Then it is up to the business to block it off in the calendar. I have a friend who uses it for his service business, pet related.

Current business owners: if you had it to do over again, would you?

I am not in the auto detailing business but I have been fortunate enough to have had a successful business for several years. One thing that I am very surprised is that very few, if any, detaliers use an online appointment calendar like SnapAppointments. This way customers don't have to call...

Fresh paint and a long trip

The body shop that I took it to is great. He told me that he uses Glasurit unless I wanted something else. Let's just say that my car is by far the cheapest car in his shop. He made a joke that he can match the color with the rest of the car but he won't match the crappy quality of the...

Fresh paint and a long trip

Thanks for all the advice everybody. I never realized how many products there are out there. I do know that from now on I will be using some sort of wrap on my car when taking long trips. I am leaning towards the rental, even though I would rather take the convertible since it is summer in...

Fresh paint and a long trip

Bad news and good news. Bad news is that I hit a deer on Saturday in the Mustang. Good news is that it is getting fixed. The problem that I have is that I have a 500 mile trip that I have to take in it the week I get it back. I know that it is going to get plastered with rocks and bugs. I...

    Hiring a new guy?!?!??!?

About 4 years ago a friend of mine was looking for some help. He took what I thought was an excellent approach. As he was driving around running errands he would watch employees at various places. He found a guy at the local grocery store that was killing himself. Knowing the guy didn't make...

Looking for ideas on new garage

There are some great ideas on here. This a a great thread. Most single garage doors are 8' wide x 7' high and double doors are 16' wide x 7' high. If I ever build another house I will get a 9' wide X 8' high and a 18' x 8' high. I had an old neighbor that paid his concrete guy to put in a...

Oil Cooler - Brighten Up Aluminum

I have had pretty good luck with Nevr-dull in the past. The safest metal polish I have ever used was English Custom Polish Metal Polish. A guy I used to work with polished his entire frame on his CBR with it and it looked like chrome when he was done.

    How do you handle this?

My cousin owns a custom trim shop and finds stuff all the time. If this ever happened to me I would take his approach. He pulls the car out of his shop, locks it up and tells the owner that they forgot something in their car that needs to be removed before he can continue the work. He said...

Spots people don't think to clean

The license plate and frame. I take them off and wash and wax both. The spare tire area. I make sure I clean out the well and give the tire a once over. It has never been used but you wouldn't believe how much dust and dirt gets in there every six months.

    Developing New Polishes...Input from AGO

Congratulations on your endeavor. I look forward to seeing the progress. I agree with the changing color aspect. I painted inside the house last year with a ceiling paint that started out pink and then turned pure white. It definitely made painting a lot easier.
