    Optimum polish consistency

Funny you should ask that. One reason I bought this BOGO OP was to add some to 105 to extend the working time. I don't know if this "newer" THICK version has the same long working time as the old version. Seems like every time I buy a product, they come out with a NEW + IMPROVED version. Not...

Ziebart Detailing Disappointment - Should I Expect More?

Shoddy work. I see "details" around here (Mobile, Alabama) like that all the time by "detailers." Sounds like you were overcharged by about $275.00. Perhaps Ziebart should look up detailing in the dictionary.

    Optimum polish consistency

This one that was on BOGO is not Optimum Polish II, it's the old formula with the "New Formula" gold sticker on it. So it's a newer version of the old version. :) The OPII is thicker than this??? Wow! Anyway, it's so thick that shaking it does nothing. Plus both bottles are less than full up to...

    Optimum polish consistency

I bought Optimum Polish on BOGO a month or 2 ago and just used it today. When I went to shake it, nothing happened, no liquid sound. I unscrewed the top to look, and that stuff is thick! So thick, it won't shake or move. Both bottles are the same. I ask because I traded someone some other...

    Removing bugs, tree sap, tar...

For pine tree sap use rubbing alcohol, mineral spirits, or turpentine. You'll have to re-LSP afterwards. I put rubbing alcohol on a cloth, lay the cloth over the sap drop, let it soak a minute, wipe it off, and re-LSP.

2 Question: headlight oxidate and leather care

Re: the headlights. If they're slightly oxidized, start with the least abrasive method first. You may find that some very mild plastic polish will remove the light coat of oxidation and there's no need to abrade the uv coating from the lens. Finish the job with a good sealant for protection. I...

    give me your opinion

The pyramid speed method is for a rotary with a finishing polish: work at 900, go to 1100 then perhaps 1300, back to 1100, then finish at 900 rpms. That's the short version of the method. It's moot though, you're working with a PC. Anyway, back to the M80 on your PC. It has diminishing abrasives...

    give me your opinion

It looks like you didn't work the 80 long enough for the diminishing abrasives to break down. That'll cause hazing. I'd go to either M205 or 3M Ultrafina with a finishing pad and use the pyramid speed method. Are you using a rotary or a PC?

    Polishing Mercedes SLK

The PC is a tool made for sanding wood, and was adopted for use on car finishes to be easier and more effective than working by hand. The beauty of it is the slippage of the clutch mechanism makes it a good tool for anyone to use without the heat/friction possibility of damage of the rotary. The...

wheel well dressing, what's the best choice?

I use any tire/vinyl dressing that's on sale for the wheel wells. If Big Lots has Dupont Teflon Shiny Dressing spray on sale for $2.00, that's what I'll use for wheel wells. Same for Simonize 500 Series, or whatever's the cheapest.

    Glaze or Sealant needed?

A glaze might fill in some swirls, depends on the glaze. Also I find glazes add a bit of gloss on darker cars, not on lighter colors. You can clean your pads with a bit of dawn and water, although you may find that pad combo more convenient. I prefer a sealant because of the longer durability...

What would be a good wax for white paint?

I polished my wife's white '96 Saturn SC1 with Meg's 80 then laid a coat of NXT 2.0 on. The result was so unbelievably white and bright that it was almost impossible to look at the car in the sunlight. I've also polished it with DG 501 then applied DG 105 on it in the past and it was...

    Scratch X 2.0 at walmart

Last year, I squared off a 2" x 2" section on my friend's hood with tape and vigorously applied ScratchX 1.0 with a terry applicator and repeated 2 more times. I believe he's not washed his car since. That little 2" square still looks better than the rest of his hood a year later.
