Foam guns really worth getting into

I'm a hobbyist and I picked up the Gilmour Foamaster II. I like it, I don't use it every time I wash, I find the process of actually covering the entire car with adequate suds and washing the car via 2BM lets some of the soap either sheet and/or dry completely off/on the paint unless I have a...

Just curious, are all Dodo waxes basically the same?

A test conducted on the dodo forums... Basically, from the top of the hood down to the front of the car, are different waxes. the columns, from left to right, adds 1 additional layer of wax. 1 coat of wax on the left, 6 coats on the right... Shot has not been manipulated, just the tape removed...

    Menzerna v Meguiars

...M101? Arguably cuts harder, finishes nicer, and works faster than FG400. M205? One of the most versatile polishes on the market? I see what you're getting at, but a Pinto to a Porsche? Come on now. Maybe a GT500 to a Porsche. For the record PF2500 is in my wish list right now, but Meg's...

    Ultima WW user?

After picking up my first bottle of UWW+ for waterless washing a few months ago, I don't see any need or reason to try any other available. However, I still love ONR for rinseless washes.

I do not understand why buffing and sanding gets out a scratch.

Sometimes the finish of a vehicle is referred to as simply 'paint', not everybody wants to say "I scratched the clear coat with my microfiber" even though it is more accurate phrasing, the fact remains that it's still largely referred to as paint for simplicity's sake. Clear coat is very, VERY...

Post a picture of your First car

You misunderstand me, I know there are significant differences between the performance variants and their standard models, I was saying that the cosmetic difference between a IS 250/350 and an IS F seems greater than that of a 5 series to an M5, a 3 series to an M3, or an A4 to S4. Given the...

Am I the only one that's...

:goodpost: I was wondering if it might have been something of that nature, but not nearly to that detail. I was just kind of passing it off as not worthy of mention unless it was included in the context of the car's entire electrical system, but thanks for the info regardless!

Post a picture of your First car

Oh wow I just pulled up an image of the front of a regular IS and the bumper was the dead give away. Seems like there's much more of an aggressiveness jump in the IS's than say a BMW M series or Audi RS/S series compared to their standard counterparts. Thanks for the info though!

What's the give away between an F and say a 250/350? Bumper? The lip looks aftermarket.

What if I did compound and no clay?

They are two different things, you use a compounding step when the car has heavier defects, you use a polish to refine the finish by that step, or you can use a polish alone to correct minor defects and enhance gloss.

    Nanoskin

I don't know about the sponge, but I have the wash mitt and it says to break it in on glass first. I use it on the glass first every time I use it just to be careful, though IIRC, the directions stated it only needed to be done the first time to remove a protective film that's on the sponge. I'd...
