Quick detailers, what are the favorites and why?

My favorites are FK425 and ClearKote QuikShine. 425 has nice anti-static properties which do actually help keep your car from being a dust magnet. It's also very slick and adds some gloss. QuikShine is just the easiest QD I've ever used. No fear of streaking, cleans well, great on windows...

The One Product You Couldn't Detail Without

Lowe's Proline Grout Sponge. It's so soft and rinses so clean. I love how the color makes it easy to see if there's anything on it contaminating it. Plus, it holds lots of water/suds/soap. I don't think I'll ever go back to sheepskin or other wash mitts. (I do use a chenille mitt for the...

    Express Details - Sray waxes

Prima Hydro is supposed to work exactly that way. You spray it on your car after washing but before drying. Then dry the car. I've never used it but have read a lot of good feedback on it. You might check into that.

    The Forgotten Wash

Wheels first with whatever car wash soap I have available and a Mother's wheel/fender well brush. Presoak with foam gun and DP Xtreme wash soap. Then, two bucket wash method with Lowe's Proline grout sponge and chenille mitt for lower part of car. Final free rinse with hose. Dry with leaf...

    Removing tough waterspots

I usually try clay first, then vinegar. If those don't get them, try Klasse AIO. If they aren't etched in, AIO will remove them. If they are etched and it's just a few and your car isn't covered with them, something like ScratchX will get them out.

    FK 1000P issue

Sometimes it can help to put the tin in the sun for a little while before you start applying it. That should soften it up just enough to make it easier to spread on your foam pad.

    Noob Zaino Q's

I used Zaino almost exclusively for several years before I got the itch to try other things. I think it's a very good product, certainly very durable. In my personal opinion, there are other products which last almost as long and are better looking than Zaino. Looks are purely subjective of...

    Finish Kare #425 Review

I agree, this is great stuff! It's one of the easiest QDs I've ever used. Absolutely no streaking at all - very forgiving. Nice look and gloss and it actually does have some anti-static properties. I detailed my Mom's car preparing it for winter a couple weeks ago using FK1000P as my LSP and...

    Lazy wheel cleaning

It works great. I put a layer of UPGP on my wheels about 5 weeks ago, and I am able to keep my wheels perfectly clean with just car wash soap and a brush. Much of the brake dust that accumulates during the week comes off with the foam gun soap and water rinse. But I agitate with the brush to...

    Lazy wheel cleaning

If you put a sealant on your wheels, you don't need anything but car wash soap to clean them with. I used UPGP but any good sealant should do. I just spray my wheels/tires with the foam gun, let it soak for 30 seconds or so, and use a wheel brush to get what little brake dust is left.

Foam Gun. Do I really need one?

As others have said, it's great for pre-soaking and loosening dirt. It's also nice when your car is just dusty or covered in pollen but otherwise mostly clean. You can just hit it with the foam gun, rinse, and dry. I do have a black car and it makes me feel like I'm helping avoid some...

I think it's a great idea. I'm also curious about this. Thanks for starting the thread, hopefully people with more expertise than me will participate. :)

    Prima Product Line. Likes/Dislikes?

I have tried Prima Amigo and Prima Slick. I like both a lot. The last time I used Slick on my black car I had some streaking. I think this was due to using a new, too plush an MF towel. Perhaps it soaked up too much of the QD as I was wiping, leaving uneven application. I'll try it again...

    Menz Power Finish

OK, so it's better to use a white pad with 203 then? Any comments on how long it takes to break down with a PC? What should I watch for to tell I've worked it long enough? Thanks all!

    Menz Power Finish

Thanks for the review! I got some of the 203 and am wondering if there are any tips for use with a PC? What speed should I use? White pad OK? How long does it need to be worked? Does it dry or turn clear? Thank you.
