I have a question. The VLR says not to use on plastic. I guess the protectorant is used for that? The inside of the Armada I am currently cleaning has a lot of plastic. What are some of the products I would use for that? I ran out and couldn't wait for an order...Best thing I could find

Nothing scientific here either. Just squeezing between thumb and forefinger and the middle of the pad, about a quarter-size diameter feels like hardly any sponge left. The rest of the pad is fine.

That's part of it. The ratio of cleaner to water is the other part. Hardness of water would be another. The MTM Hydro has the ability to adjust do you get the thickness you want

Well, after washing, one compound pad came out OK, but the other one is still very thin in the middle when compared to the edges. Didn't last very long.
