Griot's Garage 6" Random Orbital Polisher

Yes, go with the GG6. Probably the most powerful of the 3 and the lifetime warranty (I've had to use it and it's pretty much no questions asked). It will stop with too much downward pressure. You'll need to mark your backing plates to make sure it's always spinning.

    Aquawax in low temperatures

Even the DGRW can be tough to dry without streaking in colder temps. It does take an extra towel or two (than normal) to get it finished right. But it is better than BFRW in the cold (so maybe better than ONR also). Also, when doing a DGRW sometimes I will use AW with my final dry (garry dean...

    Road Salt

I just go to the laserwash (touchless). I do a DG+AW rinseless (touchless wash first) when it's warm enough and finish with DGAW to re-up the sacrificial layer. Base LSP is Coll 845.

    Meguiars Ultimate Compound

Another thing to keep in mind is realizing if they are deeper scratches that maybe you shouldn't be chasing to perfect. If you have removed the swirls and lighter scratches from one application, the remaining are likely much deeper. If you can catch with your nail, you won't get them out. If...

    GG DA Speed Settings varying/technique?

I don't think I have gone over 5.5 either. Knowing when to stop: part of that is a question of what type of compound/polish it is. SMAT doesn't have to break down, DAT does. For compounding with DAT, I usually go 4 section passes of heavy pressure/slow arm speed, then 2 light passes with a...

    wheel cleaning... Need some advice

Give them a good cleaning when they are new. Then protect with Hydro2 to get down in the crevices of those little bolts. Reapply every couple months. I'm afraid you would be chasing haze for a full day if you tried wax or sealant around the bolt area.

    Amazing Roll-Off users, please advise...

Also, and I don't know why this is, but I have found it to work better on a surface that has been rinsed first. I did a couple wheel wells and rinsed one first then sprayed ARO. The other I sprayed ARO on the dry dirty surface. The one that was rinsed first came out better. Don't know why...

    Amazing Roll-Off users, please advise...

I use it 1:1. Mainly in a spray bottle for engines, wheel wells, and undercarriage. Also for all weather floor mats.

    Pa winter

You are getting lucky. Got 8" overnight in DM. Supposed to have 12" by the time it's all over.

    Buying a smaller backing plate

3" bp for 3" pad (unless you can find a 2.5" bp). 3.5" bp for 4 inch pads.

GG DA Questions as well backing plate issue?

If you like how it finishes on a black pad then I guess stick with that. You might try Ultimate Polish and see how you like that.

Second time ordering done. Hope it goes good. Advise needed as well.

the shipping and billing addresses can be entered separately. ON the right hand side of the checkout, turn off the "same as shipping" by clicking on the "other" bubble right below that and enter the different billing address.

GG DA Questions as well backing plate issue?

5-5.5 is usually about as high as I need to go when compounding using the GG6 and say an LC orange pad. That would be with the 5.5" pad. With the four inch pads, I usually drop down .5-1 so 4-4.5. Just squeeze the side of the foam pad and pull it off. They are sturdier than you think. I...

GG DA Questions as well backing plate issue?

Sounds right. You would only have 1/16 inch of pad beyond the backing plate. You can go to 4" but I would recommend a 3.5 inch backing plate if you do that.

    Need HELP with Mercedes paint

Autopia (AG sister company) does carry the Buff & Shine pads. I've had luck on a couple occasions getting one store to put something in my order for another store. You have to call AG customer service and ask (no guarantees, but it never hurts to ask). I would recommend the GG6 and yes, you...

    The paperwork?

My suggestion would be try to find someone you know (or a friend knows) that is an accountant. Have them show you what a year of taxes would look like as 1099 vs. K-1. They should be able to do this assuming a couple different incomes, maybe like $25,000 and $50,000 for example and applying...

    The paperwork?

Are you filing a DBA under your personal name/SSN? If this is going to be something you make a lot of money doing, I would form and LLC S-Corp (K-1 instead of 1099). This will help you avoid a lot of self-employment tax. I do all my own books on Quickbooks, file my quarterly state and federal...

    Spring plan.....

I try and keep it dry for at least 12 hours, but that's just me. If you were to apply in the morning then put it out in the sun, you'd probably be fine after a few hours. And if you enjoy the waxing part, you can still wax on top of the sealant. And still use the quick wax after washes.

    Griots 6" DA polisher

Agreed. On the 3" backing plate on the GG6 it is a little hard to see the mark because of the shroud, so I also like to mark the side of the pad.
