Hello No, you do not HAVE to use candies. You can just top coat with a regular clear. When you put a candy over it, it changes all the colors usually. Like a red candy over a green Crazer.....now that green looks blue. Red + Green = Blue. So, it can get a bit tricky trying to reverse...
