This is why you should always protect plastic....

I learned this the hard way using a heat gun on my daily's wiper cowl. Got a little aggressive and warped it in spots. Impressive turn around!

    Top HD Speed with...

I'm not being a smart a$$ by asking this question, I am genuinely curious. Why use a product like Speed if its going to be topped? Why not just use a dedicated polish and then apply the LSP? I currently use HD and Meguires abrasives, and I usually apply Colli 915 or 845 as my LSP. Is there an...

    HD Adapt

I absolutely love it. I used it on my dark grey metallic truck a few months ago with white B&S pads. It had more cut than I was expecting given I was using polishing pads. It took out some pretty deep marring, and finished great. I went two passes on speed 6, then one pass on speed 3 using a...

Collinite #845: The Definitive How-To Guide For This Legendary Wax

:xyxthumbs: That's exactly what I do. My daily gets 2 coats of 476 for winter prep, and mid-winter I apply a quick coat of 845. I also use the DG rinseless and AW every other wash. Car still beads like crazy into April no problem.

Blackfire Waterless Wash (new 1:48 formula) vs Meguiars D115

+1 This is the most versatile product I have ever owned, IPA alternative, ww, rw, interior cleaner, etc. I love the stuff, and for the price it can't be beat.

    Getting wax off trim

+1 Mother's B2B and a brush easily took care of some M101 that I got on trim that I carelessly taped off.

    2. TW ENDURASHINE COATING I am really impressed with this stuff, I used it for the first time about 5 rainy weeks ago on my daily and my tires still looked decent yesterday when I washed it. I put another coat of the TW on and they look just like they did after the initial 2 coats.

    D114 killed my UTTG+

I've been getting about 1-2 months out of UTTG+ using the DG and ONR rw's weekly. That's why I'm surprised that a week old application was removed by D114.

    D114 killed my UTTG+

I used Meg's D114 for the first time tonight and it destroyed the UTTG+ that I applied last week on all my trim. It pretty much removed it, leaving a little behind because the trim's surface was streaky and tacky. I had to clean all my trim and re-apply UTTG+. The D114 was @ 256:1. Has anyone...

    3.5mm paint on Mazda

I'm just a weekend warrior, but I have used the KB method with 205 and a mf cutting pad and I would caution you to be careful with this combo if clear coat thickness is a concern. It cuts alot more than 205 and foam. I used it on a 2008 Toyota, and it cut a surprising amount, not as much as when...

Help with DG 601 and 105...and maybe 601

Re: Help with DG 601 and 105...and maybe 501 I don't believe so, your paint will take the characteristics of the Collinite as that would be the LSP. For example, on my truck I applied 111, and that has the candy shell look IMO, but I ended up topping it with colli 915 a couple weeks later...

Help with DG 601 and 105...and maybe 601

Re: Help with DG 601 and 105...and maybe 501 I would only use 501 if you need a stronger cleaner. I've found 105 to have mild cleaning ability but to be a very good sealant. If you were to use all 3 use 501/601, 105/601, then one of collis. But IMO using both 501 and 105 is redundant if you...

    DG 111 vs. road paint

Last week I spent a few nights after work polishing my truck. My LSP was Duragloss 111, this being the first time I've used it. The morning after I finished, I got on the parkway, and unbeknownst to me and to my horror they were painting road lines! Needless to say, my stomach dropped when I saw...

Least aggressive polish to remove clay marring?

Thanks for the info everyone! I actually have an old bottle of 3M machine glaze that I didn't even think to try, thanks for that idea Bob. If that doesn't do it I'll order SF4500.

Least aggressive polish to remove clay marring?

In the interest of preserving as much clear coat as possible over the lifetime of my vehicles, I'm curious as to the least aggressive polish you guys use to remove clay marring. I have been using Meg's M205 to remove it, but I'm wondering if this is a bit more aggressive than is needed. I have...

Black plastic trim (now white) restoration - any tips?

Please let us know how it turns out, my buddy has a wiper cowl that is completely white like in your picture and I was just going to Plasti Dip it. I've been wanting to pull the trigger on DLux or Solution Finish.

    Orange staining on white Audi

Not sure what that is, but I had a few spots (no where near what's in your picture) on a white subaru that looked similar and DG501 on a white pad took care of them.

    Dr Colorchip cure time

I'm going to be using colorchip on my daily driver's road rash after compounding and polishing the car in a few weeks. Their site says to wait a week to wax over the paint, but given that it's my daily driver I can't leave it in the garage for that long and I'm certainly not driving it with zero...
