    Failing today

I think any of the options you have tried should work with enough time and effort. See the sentence I bolded... I think that is your issue. Your fear of damage is most likely what is holding you back. Many beginners simply don't realize that polishing takes some time and effort and are a...

Stains from APC degreaser not coming off paint

I would think that if the staining/streaking was repairable, the seven passes you did with a microfiber pad would have taken care of it. Since it didn't, I think you are SOL as whatever caused the staining has permeated, and damaged, the clear coat beyond what could be repaired by polishing...

    2K Clear Coat vs 2K fill-in-system

The 2k clear coat is ready to use as purchased. I've used this product many times and it's a great product. The "fill-in" system is an empty can that you have to fill yourself with your own paint product of choice. You also need the specialized filling tool to do the filling. Don't take this...

    Megs M100 on a RAM 1500

If the 105 worked for "some" scratches but not others, that tells me the "others" are simply deeper and need more effort -or- you didn't work those areas as thoroughly. I would just make a few more passes with the 105 (if it's safe to do so based on your own risk tolerance). From a cut...

Any downside to polishing the entire car with a light polishing pad, then go more aggressive if needed?

All the more reason to do a test spot or panel to see the results before proceeding with the whole thing. And what exactly is that supposed to mean? That's a rhetorical question only... I know exactly what you meant and if I am correct you couldn't be further from the truth. My response was...

Any downside to polishing the entire car with a light polishing pad, then go more aggressive if needed?

While doing as proposed would not have any negative effect on the vehicle, I see doing so as a complete waste of time and resources. Why would you go around the whole car just to find out that the results do not meet your expectations when you're finished? Many will recommend a test spot to...

    Bumper resprayed - questions

This question has been addressed a million times on this forum, but that aside... The best answer comes from the paint manufacturer. The next best answer comes from the painter. But I have to caveat those answers with "if you trust the painter". I've seen many painters that think they know...

I'm the opposite. I only visit on my desktop. My phone is just that - my phone. Oh, and camera. The only time I ever use my phone for internet activity is if I'm away from home... Like on a road trip.

    wet/dry sanding

If that were the case, then the finish of every panel would have a different final composition than the next based upon its orientation during painting, i.e., horizontal panels vs. vertical panels and everything in between. Additionally, it is my opinion that the viscosity of the clear coat is...

    wet/dry sanding

I've seen or heard this claim more than once and I just don't believe it. Do you have any technical or scientific information to support this claim? Here's what I believe... When the clear coat is applied, factory or otherwise, it is a homogenous mixture. Therefore, any UV protection...

    wet/dry sanding

Just for clarification... As far as I am aware, Mike never said that you can't, or shouldn't, sand clear coats; or that sanding is only for single stage paints. What I have heard him say is that sanding "factory" clear coats is not the best idea, and sanding should be reserved for repaints...

when she suggested "Why not just own two bikes?"

S100 Total Cycle Cleaner works great for cleaning. S100 Engine Brightener will give the wrinkle-black finish a "dressed" and slightly glossy appearance if that's what you want. And finally, a metal polish for the fin edges. This is the most tedious part of the job. You have to use the metal...

when she suggested "Why not just own two bikes?"

I have two bikes and from my perspective... One of them becomes your favorite and the other just sits. Whenever I do ride my second bike, I enjoy it, but those rides are few and far between. 99% of the time, I'm jumping on the primary.

What's the last form of exercise you've done?

I'm in the midst of rehabbing following shoulder (rotator cuff) surgery. I'm about 3 1/2 months into a 12-18 month recovery. I'm doing about an hours worth of shoulder exercises, twice a day for a total of 2 to 2 1/2 hours a day. Follow each of those sessions with ice for about 30 minutes...

How often do you shampoo your carpets wet vac?

I keep mine clean enough that they NEVER need shampooing! With my last two new vehicles one of the first things I did was head to the bath department at Target/Walmart/Bed Bath and Beyond to buy some color matching towels and bath mats to protect the carpeting, floor mats, armrests, seats, etc.
