    Man Down

@Tony. I get to feeling pretty decent then I do something stupid and erase weeks/months of good behavior in a flash. I suspect it is something in our male genes that make us stop using our head from time to time, LOL. Good thing my wife keeps an eye on me or I'd probably be bedridden. Hope...

    Man Down

Rambling thoughts from an old man... I never gave my body much thought when I was younger. Hell, I abused it. I let myself get a little overweight and I never had time to exercise. Problems come with age as you begin to lose muscle mass, .5 - 1% a year. This begins around age 25-30. This...

    Man Down

Flash, Some of the most helpful exercises that work for me are shown on youtube. (Google "Sciatica exercises" and "Glute stretches") I start my day with some of them and they did stretch my glutes and relieved the pressure on my sciatic nerve. I'm sure your doctor or therapist will suggest these...

    Man Down

I can relate as I have sciatica caused by a degenerative disc (L5-S1). This really has curtailed my car care. So what have I done about it? First, I saw a spinal specialist. He gave me information on what was happening and options. Surgery is last on my list of options but is still a...

anyone ever use automotive polish on wood polyurethane?

What patina are you aiming for? Polishing a poly might make it pretty shiny. Most cabinets I've seen have a matt or satin finish.

AG... I'm sorry but this relationship isn't working... It's all your fault!

Your response should be... "Well its funny that that you brought that up because I was just thinking I needed some X, Y and Z that I'll order later today. I could take my ride to the detailing shop and pay $250+ a few times a year but I'd rather save the money by doing this myself. That way we...

    Salt or car wash?

It obvious that many responses here are from people who have not experienced the same kind of winters we get in the upper midwest. When water starts to freeze the minute it leaves the hose and builds up on the driveway, and you need to break the ice on your bucket of ONR, you realize that this...

    Salt or car wash?

Year after year, I have been negotiating a bulk purchase of touchless wash codes and take my ride through weekly. Wash and underbody flush gets the salt off and keeps the rust away. I take the car home and do a QD and a D156 in the garage and the car is shiny, with no water spots and beads...

bored, went through a touchless wash today

I'm a long time user of Touchless throughout the winter seasons, usually weekly to remove the salt and get the underbody flushed. I run it home and do a UQD followed by a UQW and come along spring, four months later, the car is still beading profusely so the protection is intact. Whether it is...

Car Leather Coating On A Sofa?

I've always used Leather Masters Strong Leather Cleaner and Leather Masters Protection Cream on my Italian Leather sofa and loveseat. No issue with it and my dogs. This furniture is over 10 years old I've had dogs through this period. These are the same products I use in my vehicles.

    chemicals and cold

Freezing can cause unexpected separation of products and can also cause tightly sealed containers to crack their container. IMHO, its best to move expensive detailing supplies to an environment that avoids their possible freezing. I live in a region that regularly sees many days of sub zero...

how long do you keep your vehicles?

My oldest right now is my 1991 Toyota MR2. 22 years old and going strong. I just sold my 2004 Lexus RX330 and bought a 2014 RX350 which I will keep for another ten years minimum.

More Myths About the Government Shutdown This is a good read for those unfamiliar with history.

Brand new seat leather - What product would you use to protect it?

+! to Leather Masters Protection Cream. It is one of the few water-based fluorocarbon protectors on the market that can actually prevent dye transfer from jeans, belts and other dyed items. LTT makes a great protector as well but it's not easy to get here in the states. I've been using LM for...

Meguiars mirror glaze professional vs. higher end products

In thinking about it, three is currently my non-Meguiar's product count as well. My three non-Megs products are: 1. Leather Cleaner 2. Leather Protection 3. Coating I know Meguiar's recently introduced a new leather sealant but I still have quarts of Leather Masters to go through before I'll...

    Small air compressor

I've gone through 4-5 small compressors. Both oil and oil-less. I am now using a Makita MAC700 Big-Bore and couldn't be happier with it's air flow and performance. It is also extremely quiet. I'd buy another in a minute.

    My thoughts, exactly.

Meguiars mirror glaze professional vs. higher end products

IMHO, when it come to polishing and compounding, Meg's defines the high-end products. Who brought us SMAT? Who brought us Microfiber pads that revolutionized the DA polishing arena? I define high-end based on performance, not cost.

Remove sealant from plastic and rubber?

I regularly use D156 (a.k.a. UQW) on exterior trim. Looks nice and lasts a long time.

Getting rid of "New Car Smell"

Have you tried baking soda? I've had good success removing stubborn odors with baking soda. Arm&Hammer makes a refrigerator box that opens front and back to allow air passage and not spill and it works pretty well in a car. Toss a couple boxes under the front seat and leave it there for a few...
