Got asked for invoice to show how I came up with my price

My response would be: That information is proprietary and is developed based on a myriad of things like, age and condition of a particular vehicle(s), the amount of work anticipated, the number of and type of services required and the expected cost of time and materials needed to complete the...

    iPhone 5 or 4S?

The 5 is clearly going to have a longer useful life. That and the fact that most carriers require a 2 year commitment to lock in the price means that what you buy will have to last for a couple years. I'm not sure a 4 or 4S would keep me a happy camper in a year or two. Phone tech moves...

Is leatherique enough to clean dirty beige seats?

+1 LeatherMasters IME, LeatherMasters is a superior solution. It has a distinct advantage on lighter colored leathers in that it uses a fluorocarbon protectant that stops dye transfer in its tracks. As mentioned, LM does not require greasing up the seats and parking in the sun for hours to...

    Those Darn Packing Peanuts...

I fill garbage bags with them, seal them well and toss them in the pond and water features over the winter. I cover the features with a tarp and the peanuts keep the water from causing ice damage. As ice forms they compress and relieve the pressure. Come spring I toss them into the recyclable...

Just a comment for the future... If you apply LM Protection Cream a couple times a year you won't have dye transfer issues to deal with again.

    Meguiars Ultmate Liquid Wax streaking

ULW not only doesn't stain trim but it leaves trim, even textured trim looking better than when I used dedicated vinyl protectors on it. It also doesn't run down the side of the car in the rain like some vinyl protector products do. It does seem to me to be Meguiar's longest lasting LSP.

    Single stage crash coarse!

Some rambling thoughts... SS paint will permanently stain your pads but it will not otherwise damage them. SS paint is almost always soft and corrects a lot easier than BC/CC. I find black to be the softest and white to be quite hard. On a car that old I'd suspect it was repainted. Even...

How to get dried wax out of cracks?

This is by far the easiest and IMO the safest. It can be cut and trimmed to fit the tightest cracks and crevices and one swipe safely removes all the old product.

    *NEW* Autogeek Gear + Giveaway!

I prefer the Professional Bag. I'm already using a similar concept and while I have most everything I need, it is a bit tight.

    Paint micron Article

I believe the article is spot on for new factory paints by-in-large. I also believe that clear coat not only has much of the uv protection near the surface but it is also the most dense and hardest near the surface as well. It seems like that to me in my detailing experience anyway. After wet...

Why can't I get my windows clean?

After cleaning the glass, try a little UQW, a.k.a Synthetic X-press Spray Wax (D156) on a microfiber. This will leave the glass streak free and future dust or film wipes right off with a damp MF. Lightly buff dry with a clean MF and you have the same streak free clean glass again and again...

Swirl removing has left a nasty Spot!!

Now the question at hand is, "How much does this bother you?" What does this look like at 5 feet? 3 feet? How close must you get to see the marring? How obvious is it? What are you willing to spend? Is this a daily driver or your "garage queen"? If it is a daily driver you will wind up...

Swirl removing has left a nasty Spot!!

If your Vette has a tinted clear coat the test for presence of cc with polish and a white towel may not have been conclusive. If the clear coat is tinted polish and white towel will show some color, not a lot but some. Do a couple more test to a spots on the sides of the car and see if the...

Swirl removing has left a nasty Spot!!

If you decide to cover it up as they recommended, I'd be all over OptiCoat 2.0. This is a permanent coating nearly as thick as a clear-coat and it should prevent oxidation. I'm surprised the paintshop didn't suggest spraying a coat of clear. If you only have base coat and no clear you will...

Swirl removing has left a nasty Spot!!

How about taking a clean white cotton towel and apply a little polish and go over a small spot in that area. If the white towel picks up the paint color you have no clear there.

I want a great looking dash.

I've used M40 a lot and like the appearance on vinyl. I especially like Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer on the dash as it has absolutely no added gloss so no glare. It also contains UV blockers so that should provide protection.
