how many of you soak wheel & tire tools in a bucket while cleaning them?

Didn’t realize that was an option. :) That’s usually what I do but putting the tires up on small ramps keeps the tires off the concrete and away from water. Works better when the temps are lower and the concrete doesn’t dry as well. But it is also a heck of a lot easier to apply dressing when...

What did you do today non-detailing related?

Good point that I hadn’t noticed before you pointed it out. Those electrical connections aren’t correct. As Opie stated, you need to redo them with more twist. I found the following PDF that shows how they should be done properly. The last picture demonstrates the extra wire twisting Opie...

Not a 2x6. :) But less for the scrubbing and more for applying tire dressing completely.

how many of you soak wheel & tire tools in a bucket while cleaning them?

I do wheels first but the body of my car is never dirty enough to get my wheels dirty again. Maybe if I had a muddy truck I’d likely change the order.

    Layering products on new finish?

Exactly. Notice I didn’t say better with a coating. Coatings are good and have their strengths and weaknesses. And so do spray sealants. I lean more towards a coating light with Gyeon CanCoat Evo and then top with various toppers every 2-3 months. Gyeon CanCoat may be under there somewhere...

    Layering products on new finish?

A cleaner wax and carnauba wax are on the low end of the durability scale in terms of protection. I’d recommend applying the Hybrid Ceramic Spray every 2-3 months and you should be protected. Over #6 or over #6 with carnauba likely won’t matter much. If you want to go for longer protection...

What's the latest and greatest for upholstery/Carpet cleaners?

Also depends on the type of stain so that’s why I bought Meguiar’s D106 Fiber and Tannin Stain Remover. The Tornador also has an enzyme and regular cleaner that is supposed to work well with a vacuum and is really good at removing stains and dirt in carpet. Probably the closest to being an...

Applied product deterioration - Age or The Elements?

If the car is a garage queen, you’d likely be able to get the life being touted. But for a car exposed to the elements 24/7, you can cut most product estimates in half. But you can help the products last longer by washing often (once every 1-2 weeks), maintenance washing every few months, and...

I was trying to tell Don my Acura was better than his Camaro and he wasn’t buying it. Neither was I. :) But being as his Camaro was a gift from the wife, I’m sure it will forever by his favorite.

What’s your TOP GUN on heavily scratched paint?

I like the Rupes coarse wool pad with Griot’s FCC for most corrections as it finishes down well too. If I need more correction, I bring out Menzerna 400. I use with a Flex CBeast forced rotation.
