Tips you wish you would have known for CQuartz

+1 on what Nick said regarding multiple applicators and many, many towels. CQuartz is rather "smeary" in my experience, so having many clean towels to use for wipe off is a must. Overall it is quite easy to use, but the wipe off process can get frustrating if you're inspecting it with LED...

    Reapply Cquartz UK process

Essence plus is meant to be used on top of an existing coating for added protection and to fill in minor defects, not prior to applying or reapplying a coating. Essence Plus is NOT a primer. Don't use it beneath a coating.

    Reapply Cquartz UK process

If there are no swirls, scratches, or other defects that need to be addressed, then paint correction type work is just a waste of time and material. Simply clean and decontaminate the surface to ensure it is properly cleaned. Next, do a simple light polish on the car using something like...

    Strongest Correcting AIO

As I mentioned above, that was with Essence and a MF Cutting Pad. For fine polishing I have found that I prefer the Rupes Yellow or White Pads (we use yellow 90% of the time or more).

    Strongest Correcting AIO

Absolutely... results are always largely pad dependent when it comes to getting the most out of fine and medium polishes. Likewise, you can also vary the amount of product used to increase the amount of abrasives over a given area (refer to Kevin Brown's M205 method), however I do not find this...

    Strongest Correcting AIO

CarPro Essence technically qualifies as an AIO I suppose.... By manipulating your pad choice, you can get quite a bit of cut out of this product even though it also works exceptionally well as a fine finishing polish. This was Essence on a MF Cutting Pad.

    Griots PFM drying towel...

Hey... me too :) Great towel... I've been using the 16x16 Terry Weave towels for drying my personal cars because I can sheet the majority of the water off, and the large PFM towel is just overkill at that point. Just takes 2 of the 16x16 towels to dry my vehicle.

Polished and Ready for Spring - 2012 Jaguar XKR - Rupes MKII - Paint Correction

Ha, this thread is over a year old... but thanks guys! Yup, we keep buying flat pads. They are cheap and work well... though I really like the new BOSS pads as well. I have had the Karcher X Series PW for about 4 years now and am not a fan of it... overpriced and cheaply made. Coatings are...

    Pad Cleaning Question

We have been pressure washing pads for years... does not damage foam or MF... works very nicely.

    Pad Cleaning Question

If you squeeze the pads and force them to soak up the water they will sink. Sometimes you just have to let them sit in there a while also.

Audi A6 - Corrected and Coated - CarPro Essence - CQuartz UK - Attention to Detailing Peoria

Well if it is over CQuartz, it is not quite stand alone protection, but rather another layer of protection on top of the existing CQuartz. I have had a bottle of Essence Plus since it was released, but I have still not used it... so I cannot provide any insight.

You're going to do great! Detailing is a great hobby, and with practice you'll have no problems producing the same results :) Thanks!

brinkmann dual led/halogen rechargeable spotlight - repairable

I have a detailed write up on replacing the batter on the DI Ask-A-Pro Blog... mine had the same issue and it would not charge, took 10 minutes to fix it :)

    Coating Questions

You can absolutely re-coat a vehicle. We coat almost every vehicle that goes through our shop, and my personal vehicles are coated. For a well maintained car that does not need paint correction, we recommend a light polish as needed (generally every 1.5-3 years) followed by a new coating layer...

New to AG and Paint Correction

Not sure. It's been over a year since we worked on Matt's and I haven't even done a proper correction on mine yet (too busy working on everyone else's cars). I will take some measurements on my car when it is clean. I don't have any pictures of Matt's car when we were working on it. I only...

New to AG and Paint Correction

I think you're over estimating the "cut" of a 2 step paint correction with a DA machine. You could compound a panel 10x with M105 and a cutting pad, and I would bet that you are not going to loose a great deal of thickness (note: do this at your own risk). If you do a 2 step paint correction...
