Will a ceramic coating hold up to Midwest winter?

Not having to polish is a direct result of how you maintain your car. You should wash regularly to avoid water spotting and other surface staining, and wash properly to avoid surface defects. This will eliminate the need for polishing annually regardless of what type of LSP you use. The...

Using a Clay Bar On Paint Coatings?

Your clear coat does not repel water, yet we accept the fact that it provides protection against UV and environmental contaminants, correct? Same principle. Regarding sealants and waxes, the same mystery is involved. We cannot see them. We do not know how long they last, but manufacturers...

Using a Clay Bar On Paint Coatings?

The true benefit of the coating, even after the initial hydrophobic properties may have disappeared, is the added barrier of protection between the elements and your paint. No traditional wax or sealant will provide a measurably thick and durable layer like a coating can. This is what makes...

Using a Clay Bar On Paint Coatings?

I have used fine and medium mitts & towels... I honestly was not aware there was a "super fine" option. However, I have noticed marring with both the fine and medium mitts when vehicles are contaminated.... but as I mentioned above, on my personal coated vehicles, a chemical decon is almost...

Using a Clay Bar On Paint Coatings?

I’ve personally found clay mitts / sponges / towels to be considerably more aggressive that traditional clay. I would not use one on a vehicle that will not be polished afterwards.

Using a Clay Bar On Paint Coatings?

I had tested the 22ple clay (along with the other 2 products that were just announced) a couple of years ago. It was a nice product. Very soft and workable, but I still do not feel comfortable claying a car (especially a darker color that is already nearly perfect) if I am not going to be...

Using a Clay Bar On Paint Coatings?

Absolutely... CarPro recommends the use of IronX for coating maintenance.

Using a Clay Bar On Paint Coatings?

In theory, the act of claying a car is likely to create some sort of superficial marring as the particles being picked up by the clay bar are then rubbed against the surface of the vehicle. For this reason, many of us will only recommend mechanically decontaminating a vehicle if you intend to...

    Crystal Serum Light

Crystal Serum Light without question. I was not overly impressed with my Gloss Coat tests over time. It is incredibly easy to use, which is a major plus to a lot of people, but it didn't perform at the same level as some other coatings I have tested.

    Please Recommend a Coating

No, not really. Silica based coatings in general are not as slick as traditional waxes and sealants (though some coatings are beginning to add ingredients that enhance slickness), though in my opinion the physical slickness has nothing to do with how a wax, sealant, or coating performs... it...

    Please Recommend a Coating

That is too much to ask for. Static is developed when you rub the car... with wax, with a towel, etc. Waxes and sealants tend to create a stronger charge which will attract more dust in a given period of time, but coatings will still get dusty, and dust will not just fly off the car...

    Please Recommend a Coating

Your car will have a layer of dust on it after 1 day regardless of what type of protection you have applied... heck, it will have dust on it with in 1 hour regardless of what type of protection you have applied. You might run, you might hide, but you cannot escape the dust. A waterless wash...

How do you know a sealant was removed

As Mike mentioned.... you are using an abrasive polish that is physically removing clear coat from the vehicle. The sealant is absolutely gone... you're removing paint.

Professional Ceramic Coating Problems and can I top it with a coating from AG?

In my experience, a coated vehicle, even one that no longer beads water well, is significantly easier to clean than one that is not coated. Right now, for instance, my new car has not been coated, but my wife's car that was coated years ago is soooo much easier to clean and dry. In over 2...

Shelf Life of Menzerna Compunds and Polishes

Honestly.... I have some compounds and polishes that are 2-3 years old and they still perform absolutely fine. I don't use Menzerna specifically.... but I wouldn't be concerned if I were you. Just keep them away from freezing cold and extreme heat.

Professional Ceramic Coating Problems and can I top it with a coating from AG?

Don't get me wrong... I love a slick feeling paint surface just as much as the next guy... I just don't think it has any major benefit other than it gives me the warm fuzzy feeling knowing my car is clean and slick :) ... now back to the original discussion...

Professional Ceramic Coating Problems and can I top it with a coating from AG?

Spot repairs are fine IMO as long as the proper prep is done... and I tend to apply past the area that was spot corrected to ensure full coverage. My statement on slickness stems from my own testing as well... and the results of my testing have always been that initial slickness of a product on...

Professional Ceramic Coating Problems and can I top it with a coating from AG?

Correct Can always count on you to read between the lines and put words in other people's mouth... The fact that a product can both make a surface slick and add protection is just matter of fact. There are plenty of products that add slickness without much, if any protection, and on the flip...
