Challenger SRT DEMON wide body. Last call.

Agree. Have driven them, detailed them, even considered a nice 392 back in the day but at the end of it, regardless of the power, it's a rental car on an old MB Platform with a big motor. $35 for a used 392 used to be the norm and that was pushing it. Hellcats were overpriced from day 1...

The Post a Picture of Your Ride as it Sits Thread

It's been a while since I've logged in as I've consolidated a lot of my online time to FB and various groups there. However, I'll be around now and then. Just a quick update to the stable here, though. With both kids now off to college, the wife no longer wanted a mid-sized SUV but rather...

    2023 Rivian SUV

Nice work and welcome back! I define quick as time and fast as speed. It is quick. It's a high 11 to 12 second brick with just over 111mph trap speed. Respectable times, especially in the Truck / SUV market. I can only imagine how EV's will do if they can lighten up the weight.

New Matte Black Rims - Coat or Not

I never pay full price. Here and Other well known sites always have 20-25% off sales. One right now has it including shipping.

New Matte Black Rims - Coat or Not

Wheel coatings such as GYEON Q2 RIM are only like $45. But to your question, if you're just detailing your own single vehicle, yes, you can use other coatings.

    Tuning advice...especially those with experience!

Been modifiying forced induction cars since the early 90's. Best advice is to go slow enough to include all the supporting mods and ensure you are prepared to replace or repair things should it go south. It can and will eventually as per the odds, so just go in knowing that. 1st piece of...

How long should a decon + compound/polish + ceramic coat take to complete?

I shoot with Canon Bodies both DSLR and since 2020, Canon Mirrorless and a variety of glass. Canon L-series mostly but I have some really nice third party glass too. Most of the outside shots are with my good glass. Garage shots I tend to use my phone as it has a really wide angle and is...

How long should a decon + compound/polish + ceramic coat take to complete?

Depends on the SUV. Small, medium, large? I can bust through most medium sized ones in 6-7 hours. Keep in mind however, I do this a lot and have very specific products and equipment that I use. Pics for attention:

Dealer added “Paint protection”. Should I get my own instead?

Mazda's have been like that for years though. Our first was in 2003 and then 2008 and really, all of them I see are like that. Thin water based paints and the process they use when applying them. My wife's 2018 has between 60-80 microns on the roof. PPF the heck out of it and you'll...

Dealer added “Paint protection”. Should I get my own instead?

So it yourself. All they are doing is charging you for a warranty. This scam dates back to the 80's if not before. I grew up in the car business and it's a pure profit center for the F & I office. It will look awesome when done. Pics of one I did in that color last summer:

Term used for detailing a car stricly for resale purpose.

I call mine, Clean & Prep for Sale or Trade Bonus for using me since I also do photography is I provide 24 images of the interior and exterior and then I also offer a voucher for the new owner so that they can take the new-to-them ride up to next level.

What did you do today non-detailing related?

I caught a rock smack dab in the middle of the JDM-style H badge on the nose of my car a few weeks back, shattering it. Thus I slapped on a new one today. This time I ordered the kit that had the steering wheel badge, too and put the matching one on there too.

Ideally, would it be best to buy a car on a sunny day?

Bring an inspection light and paint thickness gauge regardless. Always inspect for paint or body work. Even on the best natural light days I will have them bring the car inside into a garage and look it over. "ugly lights" as I call the inspection lights and interior ones will help show...

    A farewell detail

Let's see some pics Looking forward to seeing the transformation detail you'll give the next one! You'll enjoy the new 2.0t It was a big switch for me who has had AWD and bigger power in my daily drivers but with 2 in college, choice had to be made for now. Like you noted, it's got...

Cleaned her up inside and out. Love the Tux Matts. Best floor mats I've ever had. Super easy clean up and they look fantastic. Cell pics don't do them justice.

    Are Coatings Over-Rated

I use them primarily on lighter interiors. I have an off-white in my car and did the front two seats just to aid with Blue Jean Transfer. Otherwise, I really don't use them. Most modern materials are already very resiliant.

    Engine bay rubber and plastic

Megs Hyperdressing at 2:1. I spray it with a HVLP paint gun as it uses minimal product and is super easy to wipe and even out where necessary.

Do you still use a sealant?

Nope. 100% ceramic coatings for the past several years. Both on my personal vehicles and any vehicle I work on.

Here is a problem to solve!

I've been working with PPF for decades. You can prep it and leave it. Contrary to what many say, you can ceramic coat it before PPF. I do it all the time. Makes for easier removal. I pull the PPF off my personal cars 1-2 times while owning them to replace it due to road rash. The...
