email vs phone vs both for contact information

I think it would be nuts to not diversify your communication avenues. E-mail is a "slow" communication method compared to phone. If you only choose one you're really limiting yourself and your competition will be getting the business you're not open to.

Hey Im Sean! Check out my detailing video!

Re: Branding! Check out this video. What's the purpose? I don't think the average person is going to really have any idea what is going on. Showing the process doesn't excite people to buy or be interested. Give them the benefits and why it matters to them. It's a very nice video but there is...

    Reselling products to enthusiasts...

I don't sell individual products but I do sell a maintenance kit that includes everything you need to care for your vehicle after a detail. I would make up a kit and explain the benefits of using it. Make it turn key and ready to go. I use ONR and Optimum Instant Detailer as the only two...

How much to share space with a mechanic?

If I were going to do something like this I would NOT base it off of a % of your business. Like rent, I would make it fixed, whether it's you pay X per day, week or month to use the space.

Can you successfully have 2 business models under 1 roof?

It depends. I find that washes aren't that profitable unless I've seen the vehicle before or they are willing to listen to the benefits of claying and so on so I can up sell them to an appropriate package that will make a big difference in the appearance of their vehicle. Most people looking...

    Testament to AquaWax..

Suface beading/sheeting depends on a lot of factors so looking at that alone really doesn't tell the story of what's going on. Dirt and dust can easily diminish the surface characteristics of your LSP but it's definitely holding up after the two week period. Something that will help with...

6 hours of interior detailing...did I lose money?

When quoting over the phone I give a starting out price and when they arrive we look over the vehicle together and I ask lots of questions. Often people will expect years of neglect and filth to be cleaned by that entry price when in reality I explain it's for vehicles that have been detailed...

    Contemplating removing packaged services?

Package things together and go over the vehicle with the customer before locking in a price. I will never give a committed price without seeing the vehicle and if you actually talk and show the owner the issues (more than likely they are oblivious) they'll understand. "Due to the excessive...

Considering making big business changes, would appreciate input

Do it all Mark. If you're solo working from home is great. I will not do a wash and wax on a vehicle I haven't detailed or isn't brand new. My most popular and least expensive exterior services for a Honda Civic is a wash, clay and sealant for $100-125. I explain why the clay bar and decon is...

Insurance plan for part time detailing

You're probably looking $400-600 minimum for a general policy. Good news is you can offer pick-up and delivery. Garage Keepers (at least with my policy) takes in effect the second I take possession of the vehicle for business purposes.

Naming the products you use on your site?

I wouldn't list them because the majority of people do not care and those few that do will ask you questions, etc when you're going over the vehicle. Go ask the next 100 people you walk by on the street if they know what a car sealant is, let alone klasse sealant glaze. The majority of people...
