I've been using BLASTER garage door lube and it works great. Back the hinge with a paper towel and spray to keep down the mess. It's thin and actually gets inside to the hinge pin. Doubt that greases do anything but sit on top.

They sell a stainless steel pad for pot scrubbing at most grocery stores or go to a marine supply store and get brass wool. Never had a problem with regular steel wool though.

I'll drive my vehicles up on ramps to do the wheels and help with polishing the sides. Only raises it about 8 inches, but every little bit helps!
