    Small specks in paint?

Look up “solvent pop”. It’s not your fault. I don’t think you could cause it to happen by polishing but polishing may reveal it more. Possibly the hood has been repainted?

    Collinite 845 not working

Like said above, dust and pollen on the car reduce the surface tension and does not allow the water to bead up. I can happen pretty quick around here this time of year.

    Cleaning WeatherTech Liners, opinions welcome....

I usually just clean them with APC and no protection. But Autogeek now carries WhetherTech’s cleaner and their protector. WeatherTech TechCare FloorLiner and FloorMat Cleaner WeatherTech TechCare FloorLiner and FloorMat Protector I think someone has a review around here.

    Car Cover Dilemma...

One thing to think about also is that (this may depend the type of cover) UV radiation can still make it through the cover. I noticed this the other day when doing fiberglass travel trailer the the owner keeps covered. The sunny side had much more oxidation and fading. Maybe he just had a...

    Streaking Spray Wax

I use mostly when the surface is still wet while I dry and just use one spray per panel like a hood or one spray for two doors. I think it’s really easy to want to over apply this product and using it on a wet surface helps me not use as much. If I do get streaks, I just lightly wet the...

Using some cheaper "household" products to cut some cost (not on the car!)

That Tide product is $8-10 for 50oz, 3D Towel Clean is $18 for 128oz. That and 3D Orange 88 Degreaser is $17 for a gallon and is a lot better than most other APCs.

What do you use to protect windshield wiper arms?

I used McKees Plastic Trim Restorer the other day on some while doing the cowl and it darkened them up a bit. Not sure how long it stay that way.

Cloth car seat clean up without extractor

I always vacuum and agitate at the same time when possible. Brush in one hand and the nozzle in the other moving them back and forth side by side together anywhere I can. It’s surprising how many spots you can remove with just the vacuum and a brush. I don’t use an extractor or steamer, just...

Car wash shampoo that is ok in the SUN and removes grime in presoak?

Rupes M101 High Concentrated Detailing Shampoo is supposed to good in the sun. It’s nice to use and anything left behind wipes away easily. Most rinseless products work well in the sun, you just have to go panel by panel or you can rewet it.

    Meguiars APC Problems

I think it’s etching. It can happen with stronger cleaners on paint or plastic. More so one painted plastic and “plastic” coated leather. If you spray either and let a strong cleaner run down on to a dry surface it may etch. Things that can be done to avoid it are work from the bottom up and...

Mini reviews: 303 Tire and Rubber cleaner, 303 Tire Balm and Gyeon Essence

Almost used it today, but ran out of time. I guess it’s a good thing because it poured on and off on the way to and during a job I had this afternoon.

    Maguiars

:dblthumb2: I would like to try this new D107. I was just reading the tread about it on meguiarsonline. It funny they say it solvent free, yet contains d-Limonene and Orange Oils. Cool thing is that huge company Megs makes their SDS sheets readily available.

BLACKFIRE Pro Cermaic Coating - SUPER GLOSS

I kind assumed that he did do it while he was in the erea, just at the end of the pads use. Sort of in the flow of the process. I assume this because the black pads were on the bottom because they were used first. Why pull a pad off and let it dry up then grab it after.

    Biggest Pet-Peeves in Detailing?

The phrase “pet peeve”! For some reason it really annoys me.

    Pad number ratio?

I have very little experience with gel coat, but from reading Mike’s posts you do not want soft foam polishing pads. He usually recommends stiff foam cutting pads for polishing and wool for cutting.

Mini reviews: 303 Tire and Rubber cleaner, 303 Tire Balm and Gyeon Essence

Well, I’m not sure what to think of it so far. I used it on one tire yesterday after a good cleaning. I tried using a paint brush to apply it and that didn’t work so well. Then went a grabbed a sponge and that was much better. It went on similar to most other tire dressings and looked fine...

It’s taking way to long to ship my orders

Idk. I can understand the frustration, but then don’t understand why you can’t keep yourself stocked enough that you have to make 4 orders a month.? I’m very small and part time doing this and only do about 4 orders a year.
