    ** Ferrari 458 Spider - correction and c-quartz - austin tx

Hey Cosmin, I have a friend of mine moving down to San Antonio this month after the 19th and he may be interested in working for you. He has has been the head detailer at a shop here in Virginia Beach, VA called Shine Car Shine. If you like I can have him contact you. Great showing btw.:)

Anybody ever deal with this kind of disaster?

Yeah, I did a 2006 F150 that was worse than that actually, considering it came out of a scrap yard(pick-n-pull) and had already been "cleaned" out by the employees before it was sold. There was a roach graveyard under the center console of that truck. Was the first vehicle that actually made me...

    ONR as wet sand lube?

Absolutely. I was just playing devil's advocate for worst case scenario. I think the biggest thing is going to be how it would affect the sanding media if it already has a built in lubricant but, either way onr could help with squeegeeing the slurry and wiping the panel off.

    ONR as wet sand lube?

The reasons you wouldn't want to use ONR in the sanding process is if you don't want to introduce polymers to the paint that could cause issues with an LSP bonding properly, and or the sanding media you are using, like Meg's sanding discs/pads, has a built in lubricant. Also, maybe there's a...

Question for those of you with employees

You need to be carefully trying to use employees as independent contractors/1099. They technically have to be their own business with all their own tools/equipment, and work at their convenience(basically); you are just there to provide the work essentially. I would discuss this with a tax...

    55 Ferraris , 12 Porsches , 2 Bentleys + .. in 8 months!

Cosmin, awesome job on getting your shop ready in a short period of time. Looks great. What's the reason/difference for you using neon lighting instead of LED? And are the neon lights different than standard fluorescent? Also, do you work with Yelp at all?

    Price Refinement

I just went through this with a customer because he expected to get a wash and hand rubbed wax job for $40 each on a Camry and BMW. I had to explain the wash product I used(ONR W/W) had a significant wax in it that will last several weeks on its own, plus I was applying a spray wax(OPT Car Wax)...

    The Chemistry of Detailing

No problem Doc.:D I plan on starting a new thread since what I have to offer and would like more input on is different than the basis of this thread. I would have enjoyed seeing this thread mature into something great.

    Paint too thin?

I have a 2001 S10 and the only areas I have clear coat issues is where I've done a good bit/too much sanding to try to remove deeper scratches. My paint thickness averages about 140microns on none sanded area, and on sanded areas that are too thin thickness readings are about 100-120microns. The...

    The Chemistry of Detailing

so what happen with this thread JonMiles?... Was/is it continued elsewhere?... I have recently started looking into the science and chemistry of removing dirt/soil from surfaces, and the how/why of the processes entailed with cleaning/detailing. If this thread is dead I would like to know what...

Quick picture of headlight switch - Gross

I just detailed a 2003 Acura that was worse than that(not one up'n). The vent adjacent to the steering wheel and controls was just as bad. I used steam from about a foot away so not to damage/bleach the plastic and white lettering on the controls. A little OPT Power Clean on a damp MF and it all...

Am I a "Detailer" Can I refer to myself as a "Detailer"

Would a rose by any other name still be a rose? - a little Shakespearean approach to the subject. IMO the problem with society is that too many people need a title or a label to feel like they fit appropriately into a position in society. You do what you do and you are what you are. I am a very...

    Delta Spray Bottles

Thanks ISB. From the description of most of those pump sprayers they sound like they only adjust from mist to fine spray patterns. Looks like I'll be purchasing a few now.

how do you handle customers like this?

Don't give your services and talents away, PERIOD. And if you aren't happy with what you get paid for the work/time you put into a vehicle, then that indicates you aren't charging enough. I keep having to learn the lesson of don't give someone a really good price in hopes that they will...

Has anyone seen this "Permanent" trim coating before?

Looks to be a painted on product, like clear coat and black paint mixed. Maybe something Solution Finish would be comparable on the bed cover. Regardless of what you use on the bed cover, it looks like it will need a good bit of cleaning.

    Working at a dealership

This is why the interview process goes both ways. If you knew what you know now would you have still taken the job? Now that you are there, I would sit back and observe things for another week or so, and see what is the best you can do with what they have. Maybe ask about how they decide on what...

Too much content on your website?

That's ironic/coincidental, for I was on your website just a day or two ago and sensed that it was a little too busy/congested with content. Just from a user/viewer perspective you should organize it to have content more cataloged. It looks like you tried to fit as much as you can on the...

    Getting in shape

That's awesome! I have been saying that I am going to start a garden at my house and a community one in my neighborhood but life keeps getting in the way. However, I think next year I will focus on it and start recruiting the people I know are interested to join in. You have to take ownership of...
