how to clean hard to clean spots on rims

Please try everything else recommended here first. If/when that doesn't work the nuclear option may be Meguiars Hot Wheels Chrome Cleaner. It's the over the counter version of Meguiars pro-level heavy duty wheel cleaner. The stuff is seriously strong and you'll want to make sure you use it...

Do you put anything on you Steering Wheel

I don't have any experience with the Griots; I'm using a McKee's 37 Leather All In One, which they don't make any more. I've found the cleaning ability to be pretty good on well maintained interiors. It seems to do just as good as the dedicated cleaner/conditioner products I used before. I'll...

Do you put anything on you Steering Wheel

For me the answer is "kind of..." Right now I'm using a AIO leather product that cleans, conditions, and protects the leather all in one step. The end result is a wheel, that looks and feels "raw" but has some protection on there. For light cleaning/dusting I'll use the interior protectant...

    Poverty Sucks...Singer content inside!

I'll have to watch the video after work. I've always been a huge Singer fan and hope to someday see one of their vehicles. A 930 Turbo is, and will likely always be, my classic dream car. Of course when I first fell in love with it, they were still being built! I'll take one in black/black...

    GG9-pad and polish?

I have the GG15, so not a direct comparison, but I've found Griots BOSS Perfecting Cream on a Rupes Yellow pad to be a really good solution for a one-step light polish on soft/medium hardness paints. VW paint can be pretty hard and I've heard similar things about GM paint as well. You may need...

Those are great looking nerf bars. Like the look of your Bronco, subtle and classic.

As if the pollen wasn't bad enough...

Spring is just now starting to appear in my area, but for once all the pollen we normally get isn't the real problem this time. It's DUST! Even before the storms and tornados rolled through our area last week we've head day of consistent high winds and it's carrying large amounts of dust from...

The "What Did You Buy For The Car Today" Thread

Just a couple minor things for the BRZ. - New magnetic numbers and class letters in a more high contrast color. The old ones weren't as visible as I'd like. - A roll of Track Armour to protect the front facia area from cone scuffs

Sorry, but its a which coating question

I'll toss in the Gyeon products for consideration, specifically Mohs EVO. So far, I've found it to be just as durable as CQ UK, the beading/sheeting is slightly better, and it's far easier to apply. The differences are in the appearance - Mohs is more glassy/reflective.

    Old Vinyl stripe removal

You may not need anything as powerful as a heat gun. A good hairdryer might do the trick too. I removed vinyl pinstripes from both my car and my daughter's over the years. Heat was the key. In the case of my car the striping was only a couple months old. Leaving the car in the sun on a hot...

Another what coating choice (two metallic black cars)

I think the humidity has a lot to do with it. I apply my coatings in 60~70F weather. In the Spring, that can mean humidity levels are likely 65% or higher depending on what the recent weather has been like. I've found CQUK the product will start to slowly rainbow flash after about 2~3...

    Polishing off old waxes/coatings

My go to for that type of work and any other light polish on medium to soft hardness paint is a Rupes Yellow pad and Griots BOSS Perfecting Creme. The yellow pad is pretty versatile and will finish down nicely. I'm not familiar with the Uno polish, but would be afraid a mild pad like the Rupes...

Another what coating choice (two metallic black cars)

This is rather disappointing to hear. I just purchased the "regular" ADS Quartz coating to see how it compared to Pure EVO and Mohs EVO. I hope I can get at least 24 months out of it like I have the Gyeon products. Back on topic, even if I'm a little late to the party. If you are looking for...

    Who’s Getting Ready for Spring?

Ditto here, and I'm working all week. Should be nice for the weekend too in our area, but I'm going to skip any detailing at least one day to do a little fishing.

    From "stay tuned" to T U N E D !!

Another vote for the 18" Five spoke wheels. Those are the best looking wheels I've seen on an Elantra N, and I like them better than the wheels I suggested earlier in the thread. Tire Rack did a great test last year with various wheels and tire widths. They found a very slight stretch is...

    5" Backing Plate

My thoughts as well. Depending on how and where you drill them it could have a negative effect on the balance of the backing plate and make it wobble/vibrate while in use. I don't know if the vent holes are all that important. I used a solid Lake Country backing plate on my old HF polisher...

Van is detailed, now comes a new challenge

Nothing to offer in the main discussion, but what is that classic car in the background of the third "after" shot? Looks like it's about two houses down from you. Beautiful car. Oh...and the van looks great too! :D

Is this a good approach for brand new Maverick?

Agree with the others you may have to polish after claying due to the marring a clay bar will produce, even if you use plenty of lube. Another thing I didn't see was surface prep before coating. The detail spray you use to lubricate the claybar will leave oils, some cleaning agents and...

It is Possible to Wash a Vehicle Too Much??

I like the Powerstop kits. Heard nothing but good things about them. The Centric rotors you can get from Tire Rack are another option. They are pretty reasonably priced and the hub area is coated/painted/powder coated too to prevent corrosion.
