    Washing in dry climate

My issue isn't necessarily a dry climate due high humidity, but I do have an issue of no shade around my driveway which leads to similar problems. Like already mentioned, time of day can be critical, but life doesn't always allow for that. Here are a few things I do. Depending on the position...

    Fasting curing sealant/coating?

The sealants I've used in the past are Colinite 845 and Wolfgang SiO2 Paint Sealant, Griots Ceramic 3 in 1 Sealant, Turtle Wax Hybrids Solution Ceramic Spray Coating (its a sealant), and long...long ago, Klasse Sealant Glaze. With any of those, once you apply them, let them set for the...

    Fasting curing sealant/coating?

Most sealants I've used only need an hour or two to cure. If you can keep them dry for that long there shouldn't be any issues. Many coatings these days have a topper or two which they claim will protect the coating from things like moisture during the initial curing process (typically the...

    Who’s Getting Ready for Spring?

I purged a lot of products a few years ago, but I need to do it again. I've got stuff I know I'll never use and they are probably 10 years old, if not older. I've also tossed some old polishing pads which are worn out and I'm no replenishing that stock. I am looking forward to getting back...

I can't believe they think this is a good idea.

That's not all that different from the US...except they still sell a full model line. For the US market, pricing and reliability have killed them. Gladiators are piling up and they can't sell them; there are still a ton of unsold 2024's. They are asking $90K for a Grand Wagoneer? It's...

I can't believe they think this is a good idea.

My wife owned one from that generation when we were married. Build quality was terrible and it was mechanically unsound long before it should have been. Looking back we both realize how unsafe the backseat was too and feel fortunate we never had an accident with any passengers back there.

    Hazy IP display

It may not be anything you're doing. I've noticed several rental cars I've had recently and even the one in my own car does "haze" when hit with bright sun even when clean. It makes me wonder if there is something is done to the underside of the screen surface to make it more visible from...

    Recommended Glass Cleaner

Another vote for the distinguished gentleman from Stoners. I used to swear by Sprayway foam, but for some reason the last can I used produced a streaky mess and made me wonder if they messed with the formula. We found the same issues when trying to use it around the house too.

    Placing A Supplies Order

This. The only two things I buy in the gallon size are soap and wheel cleaner because I'd go through smaller consumer sized bottles way to fast. As for everything else, since I'm only caring for my own personal fleet (which has really shrunk with the kids moving away) everything else, even in...

It is Possible to Wash a Vehicle Too Much??

Why are you replacing the calipers, rotors and pads? Is it because they look bad, or is there actual structural issues in the parts? I've owned cars that had some pretty nasty looking components because of their exposure to all the elements, to include road salt, but they have never had any...

I can't believe they think this is a good idea.

After driving a couple Jeeps, I'd never own one...but that's a different topic. This is a pretty desperate move by Stalantis. I'm not interested in any product from their portfolio, but if I was this would likely make me think twice. On any modern car there are already enough distractions...

    How’s this for a Bold statement…

Thanks. It looks like lots of factors to include water based paint, substrate, and even the surface of the sheet metal. That's a really good read. My first mistake was biting on a discussion started due to something said by an individual on YouTube. I should have known better.

Wheel specific coatings — yay or nay?

Agree. I've used left over paint coating on my wheels with great success multiple times. I've never seemed to feel the need to buy yet another product just to protect my wheels. Over the years I've used paint coatings, paint sealants, and even the spray on rinse off products. Each one has...

    How’s this for a Bold statement…

This is what I heard in the late 90's when many of the German cars had orange peel and cars from other parts of the world did not. For some reason, I've never seen orange peel on a Porsche though...

    How’s this for a Bold statement…

It is still all about cost and where they apply material costs no matter how much the unit price is for a vehicle. Those vendors may be putting more money into high-tech toys, engine tech and suspension performance, interior materials, etc. While I don't think an automaker sets up their paint...

    Rim/Wheel Sealant

I do the same thing. Even with a coating, I use the same stuff I've used on the paint. I always seem to have a healthy amount of product left over when coating our vehicles, so I just use what is left over to take care of the wheels.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Washed the BRZ by hand last night for the first time since October. Repeated snow storms and tons of salt had it a bit crusty so I gave it a good foam bath before going after it with a traditional bucket wash. I ended up drying the thing in the dark, but it looks so much better and made for a...

    Permanent Staining?

Based on the picture, this was my thought too. What does it feel like? Is the spot rough compared to the surrounding paint? Before you drag out the clay bar and polisher, try something like Stoner's Tarminator. It's a really strong cleaner. If it can't remove the spot than I'd take it as a...

    Well, #%]^!

I think a lot of companies go overboard with their recommendations/instructions. Of course they are going to say to use their products, not only because they want you to buy them, but also because testing of the product occurred under specific conditions. However, that doesn't mean everything...

    Sealant suggestions?

Wolfgang's SIO2 Paint Sealant is my favorite. I got about seven months of durability out of it and water behavior was very coating-like for five months. The added bonus is it looks really glossy and application/removal is far and away easier than anything I've ever tried. It's my favorite by...
