Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

My mother-in-law has a 2021-ish G90. It's not a bad car. Not quite up to Audi or Lexus quality, but a very nice car. This one seems to be a big leap forward.

    Anyone Keep A Log

I've never kept a log, even when I was taking care of 3~4 cars at once. I always do my main polish/LSP application detailing on a spring/fall seasonal schedule. Spring jobs were between March and May, while fall jobs were in September or October. When I was still using sealants every job...

    From "stay tuned" to T U N E D !!

The corn lobby is extremely strong, especially in Illinois where we live. When we had the recession in 2008, I remember there were discussions on removing Ethonol from the gas to lower production costs and pump prices and the Farmer's lobbies went nuclear. A substational amount of feed grown...

You have to do two different procedures for the the two different driving environments, or just two different ways to do the OL to get to the same result? Either way, it is crazy. No other car maker on the planet makes you do it manually My BRZ has something similar in the manual, and yes it...

    Ferrari Purosangue options cost...WTF!

I started to lose interest in Ferrari a few years ago when I learned Ferrari won't sell you a Ferrari unless you already own one already; i.e. they are essentially a closed club. Porsche, Lambo or Aston will sell to anyone with money in hand. Their designs are stunning and I don't doubt their...

How does some cars stay so clean in winter?

I'd think any of the really hydrophobic LSP's would work well. In addition to the previous recomendation, coatings from Armour Detail Supply, CarPro and Gyeon come to mind. For a more traditional sealant something like Wolfgang Ceramic Paint Sealant or Sonax Polymer Net Shield would work too...

    Armour Amplify

I'd think you can use it as-is right out of the bottle. I've never bought the gallon jug (is it thicker/concentrated?), but the product in the 16oz bottles is pretty thin and applies very nicely.

What is the HP difference between running higher octane gas with/without performing the octane learning routine? I think most people don't even realize such a feature exists on the car due to all other makers having ECU's that automatically adjust. I'd love to hear why Hyundai decided to make...

ADS Quartz applied to the EN!

I got similar results with my wife's car and Mohs last week and I was shocked. Glad to hear ADS is working so well. Even more reason for me to give it a try this spring!

How does some cars stay so clean in winter?

I thin the answer is two part. First, those clean cars are from people who are likely getting them washed frequently. Around here there is an automated car wash on almost every corner, we have more more of them than we do gas stations. Second, they may be using a protective layer that is...

2005 Pontiac GTO - Silver / DQUARTZ Nano-Diamond Quartz Fusion Coating 🌴 A Miracle Detailing

Great looking car. I don't think they ever got the credit they deserved. How did you like using the coating? I think this is the first time I've seen anyone say they used it.

The knock sensor will make the engine adjust the ignition timing, so there maybe something there. Regardless, if you know your engine is 100% it eliminates one variable and lets you focus on the couple things you think might be going wrong.

New addition to our fleet...Cruze replacement!

Nice looking car. Love the color! I like VW's. The MK6 GTI is one of my top three cars I've ever owned and would get another GTI or GolfR in a heartbeat. VAG really has really mastered their 4-cyclinder engines. I've not driven anything with their 1.5 like what's in that Taos, but their 2.0...

Not really, but I think it will be much easier to trouble shoot and focus the tune issues if you know everything is else is working properly.

Funny you mention this. It must be a regional thing. Around me, Tesla's are far more abundant than any other EV and are just as common as other cars on the road. Still don't match the number of trucks and SUV's, but there are a lot of them. However, when I was in Seattle for Christmas...

    Vinyl Wrap - Game Over

Link doesn't work for me either. Many of the cars you see and think it's a custom paint job, it's actually a wrap. From even a short distance you can't tell the difference.

Best pad combo that works for you. Recommendation.

I don't know how abused the paint is on the Tiguan, but when I owned a black metallic VW GTI, I got my best results with Blackfire's Compound and a white Lake Country ThinPro pad while using my humble HF DA polisher. I bought the car new, so it was well maintained, but as a daily driver it saw...

1964 Rolly Royce Continental Flying Spur

Nice save on such an elegant car! Funny story: When my oldest daughter got married, the car that drove us the few hundred yards from our staging point to the gazeebo where the ceremony was going to happen was a white RR a few years younger than this one. As I got in the car, I joked with the...

    DFB’s Detailing Awards 2024

Great write up! I've always been someone who avoided going "all in" on any one particular brand/product line, but ADS is pulling me dangerously close. I doubt I'll totally give up some of my favorites, but ADS looks like it will gain more shelf space in my garage.

2011 Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe

Wow, that is a rare beast, and you got it looking good! RR cars in general aren't seen very often around me, and I don't know if I've ever seen more than a couple coupe's in my lifetime. Asking about the RR horsepower is like asking about the price. At that level, neither matter. :)
