I agree. I think degrees of quality can justify commodity vs. specialized or unique pricing - and certainly going into secondary markets for used items make sense as well.

I have a big problem with the industry and hundreds-of-dollars for a thickness gauge..... it's a huge ripoff to the lamen. Was there a time when tape measures were hundred of dollars? It's simply stupid and its times like this where I say I am glad other companies are commoditizing stuff...

A real test was done in the Dodo Juice form some years back. After 3 layers, the white paint started to tint. It isn't a gimmick based on those facts, but then again why layer a wax more than 3x. :-)

CMX is a coating as per Forrest from Mothers. That said, coatings do not imply "permanent" which some tend to think that way.
