    Autogeek at SEMA 2018?

I was just looking at the floorplan on the SEMA website and I don't see Autogeek listed. I searched the exhibitors (Autogeek and Palm Beach Motoring) and nothing. What's up? No Autogeek this year?

    SEMA 2017 & Autogeek

Over the years prior to SEMA, there has been a lot of posts about the Autogeek booth setup, new products, "Where's Yancy" and "Send me to SEMA" contests, etc. This year it's been pretty quiet. I know there is an Autogeek booth again this year but there really hasn't been a lot of talk about...

My 91 F150 is going away

After 23 years, it's time to send my 91 F150 down the road. It's been a great truck for all of these years but the Michigan winters have taken it's toll on her. Before I list it, I figured I'd polish anything that wasn't rusty. The paint was very chalky. In progress. A big chunk of rust...

    71 Chevelle Convertible

I detailed my friend's 71 Chevelle convertible on Saturday. The paint was a little dull but was in decent shape. The bodywork under the paint was not so great. Lots of sanding marks. Since he bought the car as is, he didn't know if it was single stage or base/clear. A test spot confirmed it...

Single Stage Fun - Trying out my new 3401

I recently picked up a 3401 and since we were up near 60 degrees on Saturday, I figured I'd test out it out by polishing the hood of my 91 F-150. It's has seen better days and will be going out to pasture soon but I thought I would do some experimenting with it. I used a 5.5 LC flat pad and...

What to use on very dry dash pad?

My buddy just picked up a 65 Riviera. The dash pad is very dry and dull but is not cracked. What can I use to rejuvenate the vinyl? I have DP Interior Surface Protectant but I don't know if that will do the trick. Any suggestions?

How to remove water spots from glass

I have a buddy that has a 72 Mustang fastback. The rear glass has really bad water spots on it. He said he has tried claying it, polishing it with a wool pad on a rotary and several glass restoration products with no luck. He asked if I could help him with it. My first thought was to try 105...

Griot's Garage Premium Carnauba Paste Wax

I just received the latest Griot's Garage catalog in the mail today and they have their new premium carnauba wax on the cover. Has anyone tried this yet? It seems like a good price for a 14oz can. Nick, is this something you can review for us? Griot's Garage Premium Carnauba Paste Wax, car...

    67 Cougar XR7 GT

My buddy is going to submit one of his Cougars to Barrett-Jackson for the Scottsdale auction in January. He asked me to clean it up so he could take some pictures to send in with his application. The car was painted several years ago but had never been polished after the initial cut and buff...

72 Catalina Convertible & Blown 66 Chevy II

In preparation for my buddy's annual car show at his house, I detailed his 72 Catalina and 66 Chevy II. He's has some health issues in the past month and he was unable to detail his cars to the level that he likes so I helped him out. He takes great car of them so they were easy to clean up...

Winter sucks...I want to drive my Cougar

Well, it's snowing again here in Michigan and I'm sick of shoveling. I was out at my buddy's house last night where I store my car and just stood and stared at it. I can't wait until the weather breaks so I can drive her again. I have cabin fever!!! At least Detroit Autorama is this...

    Swirl Marks at SEMA

While walking around at SEMA last week, I was amazed how many show cars were covered with swirl marks and holograms, especially the ones that were outside. There were some beautiful cars with some poor detailing. I was talking to Dwayne about it and he joked that Autogeek should have a...

    Polishing a tinted clearcoat

I have a 2009 F-150 and the color is Razor Red w/tinted clearcoat (they call it Red Candy this year). Being that it's a tinted clearcoat, do I have to be concerned about changing the color of the truck by polishing it, especially if the panels are not polished evenly? Thanks.

Showroom New Restorer - Trim Dye

I heard about this product over on a F-150 forum. Has anyone ever used this product to restore black or gray trim? I have used Black Wow but I'm looking for something that lasts longer. I would think a dye would be the way to go. Here's the link where I saw it. I hope I am not violating the...

    3M Swirl Mark Remover

Back in the old days when I used to do some detailing, I bought some 3M products and foam pads for my Milwaukee rotary buffer. One of the products is the Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover for dark colors (#39009). As I mentioned in another post, I'm going to detail my niece's car this weekend...

    Do you do this too?

I recently got back into detailing. So I go and buy all kinds of cool stuff and start detailing my cars and trucks. I've having a blast. Now here is the thing...I find myself looking at the finish on every car I see looking for swirls and scratches. I think I need to go to a meeting!

    Hello all

Name name is Eric and I live in a suburb of Detroit. I'm getting back into car detailing after getting lazy over the past many years. I have a 67 Cougar, a 91 F150, a 96 Thunderbird and a 09 F150 Super Crew. I just bought a bunch of Griot's products including both the 3 & 6 inch ROP's...
