    Unexpected Customer Service

While placing an order the other day I decided to contact CS about a, to me, very minor mis-shipped item I received. Thinking maybe I'd receive a small credit to my account. To my astonishment, minutes later I receive an email that I've been shipped the correct product FREE OF CHARGE! Can you...

How do you pay your employees?

I recently opened my shop and have tried hiring a few 'helpers'; to do the vacuuming, glass and sometimes, just to check out their quality of work, the entire car. So, if, say a Subaru Forester comes in that hasn't seen a detail in years with rubber mats, carpet floor mats, a cargo mat...

    Tornador stopped working

I have the original (z-010?) and it stopped blowing any liquid. I changed the cone and weighted tube, but no difference. Before I tear it apart 'cause it's no use to me now, hoping someone's got an easy fix.

    Opti-Seal on Headlites?

The product info states: So after sanding and buffing a headlight, would it be OK to use OS as a UV protect?

What do you use to 'seal' wheels?

Besides the fact that I own a BMW and my front wheels look custom black from the brake dust. After washing and cleaning, is there anything other then wax? Something like, but not quite as permanent, Opt-Coat. Or would opti-Seal be OK. Suggestions appreciated.

Soft Paint/Hard Paint. How to tell?

I've read Honda, some black BMW's are soft and that Vettes are hard. How do you test? What do you look for? Don't suppose there's an online resource?

Is this the way to do trim?

So I'm thinking, you mask of the trim so as not to contaminate it with product (compound/polish/wax, etc.) But then it comes time to do the trim; how do you keep from getting it on the freshly waxed panel? My thought, haven't tried it yet, is to do the trim first and then mask it off. Or am I...

How many gals. water to detail?

I'm going to bite the bullet, take some training and open a shop. Since there are no shops with in floor drains in my neck of the woods, I'm going to need some sort of water containment system and I'm wondering just how many gallons of water are used to wash and detail the 'average' car. It'd...

What are your cost of materials for a full detail

NOT including paint correction. I've searched and browsed almost the entire Net trying to get a true picture from the 'average' detailer. And no Flame intended. But I've seen posts where guys are saying they wash, clay, interior (which to me seems to be the hardest part), wheels and tires...

What's your percent of Rent to Gross Profit?

I'm planning on opening a detail business and am hoping some of the pro's on the forum would share some info. I realize that there will be those with comparatively small operations to those with large and well established businesses. I'm interested in hearing from any and all. I'm trying to...

Waxing the top of a Van or SUV = how

I'm currently working on my wife's XC90 (these things are about the size of a school bus!) I used a small step ladder to reach the roof when washing. But how do you tackle this if some guy, like me, wants to apply or remove wax, etc. with a D/A? The step ladder feels a bit to unstable to be...

How to determine what a wheel is made of ?

How to determine what a wheel is made of ? I've read threads that recommend different products for cleaning/polishing aluminum, mag, chrome wheels, etc. and was wondering how you tell the difference?

    Water containment for shop

In my neck of the woods there are no shops available with floor drains and I'm guessing having a contractor add one would be way to expensive. So I've been looking at products like this (and no it's not SPAM) POWER WASHING CONTAINMENT MATS CUSTOM MADE | eBay I think DetailKing has some that...

    Windsheild Repair Products/Traing?

Hope this is the place to post ... and I realize its Superbowl Sunday I've been lurking the forum in anticipation of starting my own detailing business. It seems worthwhile to get the training, but living in the SW, offering rock chip repair also seems to be something I should be skilled at. A...
