sanded headlight forever, and polished. Still milky appearance.

I test sanded part of my headlight (circled in red in photos) for a long time to see if I could restore transparency to the polycarbonate. Used 600, 1000, 1500, 2000 grits, then polished with rubbing compound. No matter how long I sand, I just can't get rid of the milky appearance. especially...

waxing every week does not prevent clear coat failure? dull clearcoat = impending failure?

if a car sitting outside and waxed every week still gets clear coat failure, why even bother waxing at all? If clear coat gets hazy, but can be buffed back to a shine, is it pretty much too late to save it? point of no return? I have a 2007 dark gray car, and the roof paint has gotten hazy or...

This guy pours wax twice just for the front door. I use much much less than that on a foam pad, and I'm wondering if I'm using too...

    Waffle foam sucks?

I got a pair of 6" waffle foam cutting pads for just $3 ! :xyxthumbs: Half the pad isn't touching the paint because of the waffle structure. In effect, it's working half as fast as a flat foam pad. So tell me what's so good about waffle foam?

    pad vs polish

What happens when you mix and match polishes with pads.... for instance, using a medium cut orange pad with a finer polish like Ultimate Polish ? Will that result in hazing? I know you can use softer pads with more aggressive compounds to fine tune the cut. But what about the reverse...

Have you seen your headlights at night when the lights are on? When you sand your lights and polish, you may not be getting all the scratches out. It might look good enough during the day, but take a look at your headlights with the light beam shining through them. holy scratches and swirls.

is it possible to achieve very good clarity with an orange light-medium cut foam pad with Megs Ultimate Polish using jeweling technique? There are some narrow contoured areas I have 3" pads for, and I don't want to buy any more different pads because they are a ripoff.
