How to deal with window water spotting???

Finally finished my second detailing job - my wife's car. I thought it turned out great, but then I moved the car from the garage to the outside. Major water spotting on all windows. After polishing/waxing car pics::Picture: Now take a look at the window spotting, typical for all...

Collinite 845 over Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant???

Originally planned to apply collinite 845 over WG Sealant, but after reading some forum discussions I'm not so sure. I just finished putting the sealant on my wife's car and have waited 12 hrs for it to cure. But now a day later, tired and sore from working on her car yesterday, and she...

    First Detailing

This was my first car I've ever polished/waxed with a machine polisher - specifically my new Flex 3401 polisher. Admittedly it is only a partial - hood and roof of my son's car - as the rest of the car is shedding after 14 years in the sun. (The car really needs a paint job.) Anyway, I needed...

    Drying your pads

I'm new to the forum and detailing, but after polishing my first car last weekend I think I may have found a novel way to dry your pads after washing them. So here goes: I had some 3/4" velcro one-wrap, sold at hardware stores in 12' rolls. Since I had three 6-1/2" CCS foam pads to dry, I...

    Uploading Photos - Help!

Have been trying to upload photos without success. And yes, I'm not real computer savy. Would much rather be polishing a car. Went to the "Upload Photos" section of forum, but found no directions. I know you have to reduce photo size, and bring it into the upload photo screen, but how?

How much product do you use?

Ok, this past weekend I tried out my new polisher on my son's '97 Honda Accord wagon. This was my test case so only worked the hood and roof, as the rest of the car has a severe case of peeling. Results were great considering both hood and roof were so heavily oxidized I couldn't get it off...

    Flex 3401 Felt Ring Purpose???

Read you were suppose to apply air tool oil to the felt ring before using. No problem, I did it as shown by Mike in an earlier thread. But what is the purpose? It fits in a metal groove, but I couldn't see where the backing plate even made contact with the felt ring.

    Polishing Painted Plastic/Vinyl vs Metal?

Somewhere I recall a video talking about the differences in machine polishing plastic/vinyl car parts vs metal parts - i.e., car bumpers vs hood, roof, and side panels. Any differences or treat them the same? Or do you do plastic/vinyl by hand only?

    Pad Conditioner and Cleaner???

Still not sure about the value using something like Pinnacle's pad cleaner and conditioner. I've heard about 50/50 on the subject. Can anyone tell me what works best?

    Newbe takes the Plunge

Thanks to all for the great info given over the last few days. Searched the forum and reviewed lots of links and videos. Finally decided on the Flex 3401 and made my first purchase with Autogeek Friday and they were great! Very helpful and shipped right away with delivery, believe it or not...

    Effects of Polishing Pin Striping/Lettering

Watched some of your videos, but haven't seen anything mentioned about the effects of using a DA over pin striping or lettering taped on the car. Do you do the area on and around the striping by hand, or can you use a DA? Any problems with using various polishes/waxes?

    Product and Detailing Questions

Looking for a few words of wisdom before before I take the plunge and buy a DA polisher and associated assessories. Feed back please 1 - How much need is there for a machine polisher pad cleaner and conditioner? Some kits have it and others don't. 2 - Thoughts on applying a final wax...

    New Guy with Questions

As you can guess from the title, I'm new to detailing. I have two cars and a boat all of which I have improperly hand waxed for years (at least according to what I have read in this forum). Now I want to buy a good machine polisher and the wax, etc to go with it to hopefully save some time and...
