"safe scrub" bug & tar pads on entire vehicle (for wax prep)

What's up everyone? I wanted to get opinions on this because I was in a jam the other night, and wound up using my trusty "yellow bug pad" on my entire car, from top to bottom... and I wound up pretty impressed with the results! What happened was that my 1 year old went to bed nice n early...

    Help with interior leather please?

Hi guys and girls, Long story short, I recently swapped my original light gray seats for black ones out of a parts car that I had access to (exact same OEM seats, just different colours). I'd always wanted the contrast of black seats on the gray carpet and door panels, etc. The trouble is, I...

    Over-applied Collinite 845, can't remove haze. Help?

Hi guys and girls, I've applied Collinite 845 a few times without issue, but this year seems to be a little different. I'm pretty sure I over-applied the stuff, and this has resulted in a "haze" on most of my car since the beginning of the summer. Yes, there are some swirls and other minor...

Removing haze left behind after col. 845 application

Hey guys and girls. Hope everyone's summer has been going great. I have a question about Collinite 845. I washed, clay barred, then applied 845 a few weeks ago, and I will admit to making a few mistakes (I was in a bit of a rush). One mistake was that I likely applied a bit too much product...

Megs MF system: had great results in the fall, want to spruce it up post-winter

Last fall I completed my first paint correction (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/showthread.php?t=42663) with the Meguiars Microfiber DA system. Thanks to this forum and it's members, I was very happy with the results. Unfortunately a few months of salty, crappy Ontario winter conditions...

Is there a way to fix the 'suede' on my seat?

The buttons on my jeans and just wear and tear has resulted in the fake suede inserts on my seat getting a bit balled up and crappy looking. How would you 'fix' this? Is there a razor of some sort that can be used to cut off the balled up junk? Thanks in advance!

My first DIY correction - My 2006 Caddy CTS-V

Well, after spending a few months here reading around and asking a few questions, I placed my first order. It included a GG 6" polisher, the 5" Meguires microfiber DA system kit, appropriate BP, some extra 5" pads, some 3" pads and BP, a bottle of Collinite 845, 2 hydro-tech crimson pads to...

    Prime pad for 845 application?

I've read the 845 sticky a hand full of times already. The author mentioned priming his tangerine HT pad with his pre-wax polish, but doesn't address whether he did this with his crimson HT pad and 845 as well. So, I know that just a few pea sized drops will do a fairly large area, but do I...

Those of you with back issues ... how do you manage?

So ... I just did my first 'paint correction' yesterday and WOW is my lower back ****ed!! I'm still a pretty young guy at 29, and I'm also a regular at the gym and in above average shape, so it's hard to believe that polishing a car is causing me this much pain. I do however live with chronic...

Machine washing your detailing paraphernalia with your clothes...?

For those of you that are just at-home DIY'ers (not high volume guys who can probably do a full load or more of towels per day)... Do you wash your used towels and pads and so on with your regular laundry, or seperately? I just finished my first "correction" (Megs MF system) and had a few...

A few questions about Megs microfiber DA system before I get to work

Hey guys & girls. I know this is a "noob" question that's likely been answered before, but I SWEAR that I just spent 1/2 an hour google searching, and didn't come across clear answers on a couple questions I have (after watching about 10 different how-to's on this product). Mainly: 1) Many...

Made my first DIY order today!

I'm excited!! I took advantage of the fall20 coupon and made my order today.... Finally!! After a ton of great advice from you guys and a lot of learning and analyzing on my part, I eventually decided to keep it pretty simple and build on that. I was first going to go with m105/205 etc, but...

I think I've got a plan... Adjustments? Technique?

Ok, here's what I'm going to be working on: 2004 Mazda3 - My practice/warm-up car. Highway commuter. Showing some slight oxidation and generally rough paint conditions. 2006 Caddy CTS-V - My baby that got all swirled up by a local detailer that didn't know what he was doing (which led me...

    Repainted panels - precautions?

Once AG puts on a sale that I just can't pass up, I'll be doing my first correction jobs on my wife and I's vehicles. The plan is to be using GG's DA with LC hydro tech pads, m105, m205, optimum poliseal, and collinite 845. My question is regarding panels that have been repainted within the...

Towels (MF) - besides AG, any other (Canadian?) supplier suggestions?

I'm hopefully putting my start-up order in tomorrow during the "facebook sale". The last things on my list are drying, buffing, polishing, etc towels and it seems that many around here suggest to look elsewhere for better prices and equal quality. If this is the case, and the Cobra MF towels...

    Best time to buy?

Hello again. It's been a while since so many of you offered all that great guidance on how I can get myself started on DIYing my CTS-V. Unfortunately I still haven't put an order in, and thus still haven't done the job yet. Summer's just been too busy (in a good way). Anyway, I just got the...

Duped by local "detailer", now need to make it right

First off, hi everyone. I discovered this place whilst googling around about auto detailing, paint correction (a term I've learned from reading around here), swirl removal, and so on. If you're not in the mood for a read, skip down to the bold line. My questions are there. A few weeks ago I...
