...should XMT 1 and a white pad on the Flex clean it up?
The car is only three years old, but the hot Florida sun does things to headlights if you don't keep up with them. :(
Well, I'm not really new but I haven't been around in a long time. I won't even say how long it's been since I detailed my car because some of y'all might stroke out. :p
Be that as it may, I am now able to go back to detailing, and I'm buying a Flex and a bunch of other stuff to make it go...
I have all my own products, I just need the labor. No PC work but I want it clayed.
What I have/want used:
Meguiar's Gold Class shampoo w/Schmitt
Clay w/Wolfgang lube (new clay bar to be purchased before detail, so you can choose what clay I get)
Klasse AIO
You can use your own sealant...
Product layers, guys! As in, wax! :p
When I get around to stripping all the layers of stuff of my car, I was planning to:
1) Do a 50/50 alcohol/water rubdown
2) Wash with something strong and alkaline like dishwashing liquid
3) Do another 50/50 alcohol/water rub
4) Clay with lots of lube...
Well, it’s been a while since I posted here…life has kind of gotten in the way, plus I was “testing” my new products. Six months after learning here at Autogeek that detailing could be such a complex yet rewarding undertaking, I have some first-hand observations that may help some newbies...
I ran out of soap today, so I augmented the last little bit in the bottle with a capful of AIO cuz I remembered reading here on the forum and also on the AG site that AIO made a good car wash.
Does anybody know if using AIO like this will strip off any of the KSG and Collinite I have so...
When I try to log in to AGO from any computer except my laptop on my office network, I get a message that says something like "the moderator has to add [that particular] domain to the whitelist" and it won't let me in as libtech. This is extremely annoying as I like to snatch a quick peek at the...
I'm getting the bug really bad...now I've decided I definitely want some after market wheels because detaliing my stock plastic hubcaps is absolutely no fun at all! :o LOL
Seriously, I'm a goober about car stuff and I know squat about who the good wheel manufacturers are. I don't want to...
I think I've read the answer to my question somewhere here before, but can't find it now so I'll ask:
Do we have to wait for carnauba to cure the way we do with SG? How long to wait between coats of carnauba?
I want to give Golda Toyota a couple of coats of Souveran paste this weekend. On...
Last week I washed, clayed, AIO'd, and used Klasse sealant. I never got to the second coat of sealant, however. I'd like to put that on today. Do I need to use AIO again before I put on the sealant?
Thanks, as always... :)
[I think it was] Jason put up a good post/article in the newsletter on engine detailing just a few days ago. Or at least, I saw it just a few days ago. But now I can't find it! I want to read it again. Can anyone link me to it?
Also...my car is brand new so of course my engine isn't all that...
I have a few questions. I hadn't intended to do my first detail yesterday...I was going to wait and go out to my aunt & uncle's next weekend b/c they have the best, biggest, shadiest driveway for washing and waxing...but since my goodies got here on Friday of course I couldn't wait. Oh, I...
Are wiper arms still metal? Or are they metallized plastic? Metallized rubber? Does anyone know? (2007 Camry I'm asking about)
What should I use to detail wiper arms? Klasse AIO, or the 303 Aerospace?
Any suggestions?
Thanks as always for the great advice! :D
Yippee!! Can't wait to get it.
Next up: foam gun, DP Wheel Kit, Black Diamond Tire gel, Souverans paste, and probably lots of sundries because, as many have observed, it's so freakin' easy to spend your money here! :D
I'm sorry for being such a pushy new member with all these posts so soon after joining the forum, but I really want to get Golda all cleaned up and nicely protected. Let me say in advance that I really appreciate all the prompt and helpful feedback.
Soooo...here's my proposed initial purchase...
For now I have crappy plastic Totyota hubcaps and aluminum wheels.
Should I just remove the hubcaps and clean the wheels as per the directions on the autogeek site?
Will removing the hubcaps frequently to clean the wheels make them more prone to falling off?
Is there anything I can use to...
Hi everybody! I'm new to autogeek forums and aesthetic car care in general, really. My beloved old Road Warrior ('87 Buick LeSabre) had a scabrous paint job when I got her--although she ran like a sewing machine--and as a poor college student I had no money for the niceties. So for the last six...
