Detailers from you experience please give examples of manufacturers/models with soft vs. hard paint and vise versa. What is a simple way of determining which your are dealing with?

Would like to know what would be the best all around AIO choice for a beginner on a small budget.Preferably something available in quart size and bigger. Would Meguiars Paint Reconditioning Cream D151 be a good choice? What do you use?
