    Epic road trip 2015

Well folks, I've made the decision to depart Orlando, am wrapping things up here and am about to embark on one giant-sized road trip west. Very early Monday morning, I'll be headed out, with plans to be in San Francisco by Thursday. While I'm there, I'll see my incredible daughter, who by a...

    Making connections in SFO

Hi Forum folks, An unusual request I suppose, but I've made the decision to relocate to the San Francisco Bay area, where I grew up, to be closer to family - my awesome daughter in particular. That, and I'm done with Orlando heat and humidity. If anyone out there has connections in the...

335i wiper arms brought back from the dead

Not the greatest post I'll ever do, but this weekend I got inspired thanks to Tato's post, which among other things shows a great turnaround on some wiper arms: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/93262-2014-mercedes-benz-slk250-full-detail-coating-pinnacle-black-label.html And...

    Review: This thing sucks

Today I received my Metro Vac Super Extendo Car Detailing Crevice Tool and of course had to try it out! Out of the box: It's bendy! Shot of the end: Other side: Ready to roll: Action shots: Conclusion: Works great, and is a cool addition to the tool supply, particularly...

Floormat annoying me - is there really anything I can do?

Ok interior experts.... My drivers side floormat is really bothering me - yes, this is a daily driver and I guess this is evidence of the inevitable, but I gotta try. Is there really any way to get this looking better? I have a steamer, a crappy green machine "extractor", various brushes...

Trying to justify a Master Blaster?

If you're looking for other reasons to use a Master Blaster... Does a great job of drying chicken wings prior to frying. Warning: Use 50% power only - otherwise them wings will get to flyin'... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6r5XzzGfb0

    Does anyone ever wonder....

....what the image is on the store site, or more specifically - the thing that looks like a...ummm...baby's arm hanging down on the right side background? I'm really trying to ignore it, but every time I visit the store (which is often)....it's like that thing is waving to me. What the heck IS...

Oliver the CR-V gets some love

Hi folks, Another detail weekend for me. Next up is my friend Brittany's Honda CR-V, also known as "Oliver" because it resembles an Olive. She left the car with me for the weekend so I have some time - and incidentally, she's now cruising Orlando in my BMW. Probably with the top down -...

Is there an IronX OTC alternative?

Ok, I have to admit I failed to plan ahead and will end up ordering more IronX from AG regardless. Among other things, if history is any indication. BUT....I have a detail that involves a coating this weekend and just realized I'm low on the stinky stuff and obviously want to...

    My new favorite towels

These, used for removing wax and just today for a waterless wash with Pinnacle. Green Edgeless Polishing Cloth In a word, fantastic. Ordered when they were on BOGO back in November and for some reason haven't tried them out until yesterday and today. I'd put these ahead of my previous...

Possible dumb question about GTechniq G1 glass

This afternoon I completed polishing my glass (again) with Ceriglass / rayon pad combination and am now applying G1 as I type. Well, it's hazing as I type. Anyway, instructions state 3 coats - is this 1 coat, use G2 to remove, reapply G1, etc... Or, Apply G1 3 times then G2 to buff out...

"Mia" the Mazda 3 gets a makeover

Hi everyone, This weekend I'm working on my friend and co-worker's fiance's car - a Mazda 3 in a metallic dark grey / black color that needs some love. Since his birthday is Sunday (Happy Birthday Alex!) I was asked to see if I could fix it up a bit. Random background information - this car...

New one for me - sticky tree sap

Hi everyone, I'm working on a Mazda 3 this weekend (in black, of course - full thread coming later) that has some serious tree sap problems which I haven't encountered before. I've washed and IronX'd and can now see all of the issues in front of me. Normally, I'd go to the clay step at this...

    Permanon stuff going away?

Was just loading up the cart to take advantage of the current sale and thought I'd add one of my favorite products to the list - Permanon Glass. Pricey, but wow is it good stuff. Anyway, looks like the Permanon selection is seriously diminished and "glass" isn't available anymore? Anyone have...

    BMW wheel rotor rust

Hi everyone.. Just had the rear brakes done on my 335i today, which included new rotors. Any suggestions as to how to treat them (or if even possible) to avoid the standard eventual rusting? Prefer not to remove the wheels, but this would be an option. Thanks! New rears: Rusty fronts...yuck:

A small Christmas gift to a Forum member

Hey folks, So I was thinking today about how I could express my appreciation for all the great people here and wealth of knowledge I've gained since joining up a couple of years ago. What better way than to send a gift to a random forum member? I have an unused AG banner that I will likely...

Thanksgiving - what it really means (to me)

Ok guys - I'm a little reluctant to do this but will post anyway, as I've realized lately that internalizing some things isn't healthy. Mods, if you feel this is inappropriate I have no issue with deleting at your discretion. First, please understand that I am not posting to elicit pity but...
