I have just painted a 65 mustang in candy apple red. ending with 4 coats of clear. The finish came out really clear an crystal like shine. But with some orange peal. after sanding the finish with 2000 grit paper no sanding or swirl marks were visible. Then I buffed it with Meguiar's Ultimate...
