    Typo's on websites etc...

One of the things that bugs me and, I admit may be just me, but when I visit company websites and see typo's. This may not be too important for most...as long as people get the intended message...but we're "detailers" and should pay attention to those things. Again, I may be in the minority...

    Iron decon and clay combined...

I've seen several pro level videos on YouTube where they combine iron spray treatment as the lube and then clay with it on the surface. I can see the time savings with this approach but i personally don't like it. What say you folks?

    TSA Travel Screening...checked bag

I'll be flying up to Mass and will be detailing a couple family vehicles. I am planning to check a box with my Flex, rotary, pads, compounds, polishes etc. Has anyone experienced any screening issues with detailing tools, equip or liquids? I've been in touch with the TSA and they say I'm good...

    Removing latex paint from leather/pleather

I just did an extensive search on removing paint from leather. Saw little info and just wanted to throw it out there if any new ideas have been experienced. I've been through the Magic Eraser discussions (arguments)! Toyota Tacoma pickup coming tmrw and he's a house painter.

    US fighter aircraft canopies

Having spent my career in the aviation industry i continue to enjoy YT vids of aircraft and flying. After watching an F-35 vid just now it continues to baffle me how the canopies get and remain so scratched and hacked up. I would kill to cut and polish them! With the current capabilities in...

    Anyone "cocktail" polishes anymore?

I had a '59 Ford Fairlane this week and after several test spots arrived at 3D One mixed with DG501 on an orange LC HDO pad. And I mean several tests with a bunch of products/pads. I know those 2 products are similar but together they yielded the best 1 step with brilliance and shine. The...

    Decal "ghosting" trouble...

I have a customer's black 2019 Toyo Taco pickup and he removed his rear panel FX4 decals. He did a great job but what remains is the outline of the decal and he asked if I could wetsand it down. I tried 3M 3000 grit and no dice. It remains almost untouched, almost like the paint is swelled in...

Anybody topped HD Speed with Coll 845?

Recently I've had a few AIO jobs and still like HD Speed for those. I have another one tmrw and would like to extend the durability a bit and am considering topping Speed with Collonite 845. I know Speed leaves Poxy behind. Would Coll be adding anything as far as durability? The reason I am...

    Magnifying Glass for defects...

Some may laugh but I've been served well by using a magnifying glass to inspect some paint defects. It doesn't happen too often but it's proven useful to determine several things e.g. depth of scratches/RIDS, transfer or subsurface scatch, bird etchings etc. Anyone else or am I whack?

    GTechnik Halo

Has anyone tried GTechnik Halo flexible coating on tire sidewalls? I'm current using OPT Tire Coating on customers that pay for it but am a huge GTechnik fan.

    More uses for my blower...

I have expanded the use of my blower to more than blow drying after my washes. I have always loved it for wheels, tires, wheelwells and sills but have found it very useful for drying rubber floor mats after cleaning. I also blow out interiors after removing all loose articles from the vehicle...

Inquiries like " how much for a 2010 Lexus"...

I get a lot of inquiries asking simply "how much for...". My answer is "it depends on the level of service you want". I lose some with that answer. I don't use too many technical terms the caller/messenger may not understand but what do you guys say? I'm pretty comfortable with how I answer...

    Question on truck step rails...

I've figured out darn near everything over the years doing this, and of course with some help from you folks too, but wanted to ask the group if you have any tips for keeping truck/SUV step rails clean for final customer presentation. Especially the one's that deploy on door opening. It gets...

    Anyone else coating tires?

Anyone else coating customer's tires? I've been using OPT Tire Coating on every customer going on about 8 months now. It saves time after the maint wash not having to reapply dressing. Not that it saves a ton of time but it helps. Yup, there's an upcharge but it's made it easier for me...

Glass polishing and inducing micro marring...

Mike, some guidance please when you get time. I am practicing my glass polishing on my wife's car (of course). Using CarPro Ceriglass and carpro glass pads I've introduced some fine micro scratches consistent with pad rotation. I know I put them there because they weren't there before. This...

How often do you change out glass pads?

Mike, I watched your glass polishing video last night and had a question I hadn't seen asked... How often should you change out to a fresh glass (rayon) pad. I noted you cut glass for about 20 minutes with the same pad. Does it load up with product and glass powder after so many passes?
