    Advice for Soft Black Paint

Disclaimer: not a professional. I have been prepping a friend’s 6 week old Black Camry for CQ 3.0 UK and having trouble getting the finish I want. It has only been washed by the dealership with what appears to have been the shop broom. Lots of straight line scratches. Correction went ok using GG...

    Interior Detailing Question

It’s really frustrating when I can’t reach places between the seat and console with my vacuum. I detail for family and friends only so I’m just using a small shop vac with a crevice tool. How do you guys handle this? Is air the best option? If so, what size compressor is needed to have adequate...

    Flex “Pixie”

Picked up a Flex Pixie and used it for the first time yesterday. Really disappointed in the lack of power with a1” foam pad and short throw. Any suggestions on how to get more correction? I thought the longer throw defeats the purpose of a 1” pad in tight spots. Thanks

    Drying Towel Scratches

I have used two synthetic chamois for 20+ years without any problems but decided that I needed microfiber drying towels so I got a 3 pack of Cobra Guzzlers. After a hard two step correction on a friend’s super swirled black Infiniti G37, I washed it to remove polish dust. After blowing off most...

    CanCoat Questions

I’m sure these have been answered many times but I struck out when searching. I’m thinking of trying CanCoat as my first ceramic coat (if you don’t count GG 3 in 1). Should applicators be thrown away after use? Should microfiber towels be relegated to non paint touching use after use with...

    Paint Correction on Bumpers

It seems that I never get bumpers polished to the level of body panels. I know that part of it is my fear of damaging the paint. Any tips? The scuff marks on rear bumpers where things have been dragged into the trunk are the worst, Thanks

    2008 Pontiac G8

Worked on a friend’s G8 this weekend. Beautiful red color. 100% swirled and covered in some kind of clear overspray. Griot’s 6” and 3” machines, GG microfiber pad/correcting cream followed by LC blue pad/205. Protected with GG 3 in 1 Hybrid Ceramic spray. My pics aren’t great. I use a work light...

    Tacoma Polish

Finished a full correction on my 2001 Tacoma that I purchased on Election Day 2000. GG 3” and 6” polishers with GG orange and LC white pads with Meguiars 205 and GG Correcting Creme. Finished with Collinite 845, GG Trim Restorer on fender flares and Meguiars Hyper dressing on the tires. Not...

    Small Rotary vs DA

I have been considering a Griot’s rotary for tight areas. I have no experience with rotary tools. How likely am I to do damage with a rotary? If I put a 2” backing plate on my older 3” Griot’s, can I get the same level of correction with lots of patience? I have been tilting the 3” to get into...

What LSP do the pros use?

I detail for family, friends and occasional paying customer. Most have never paid for a detail and do little to maintain their car’s appearance. I get these vehicles a couple of times a year. I look for maximum durability out of LSP’s. I’m curious what the pros use on daily drivers that they...

    Experiment

Weekend warrior/amateur experimenting with pad and polish combinations. Tried GG microfiber pads/BLACKFIRE One Step on my 2007 Accord DD with 170K miles. I had marring on the vertical surfaces so I did a second step with LC white pads/BLACKFIRE. Turned out really nice. Question for those with...

    BLACKFIRE AIO

BLACKFIRE AIO doesn’t seem to very durable but I have great paint correction success with it. It doesn’t make sense to have to strip the sealant after correction so I’m wondering if BLACKFIRE polish is equivalent without the sealant? Thanks
