What tire dressing do you use?

I've been using ArmorAll Extreme Shine Gel for over a year and love it. It's inexpensive and leaves an impressive shine that my customers always notice.

    Detail log

I guess I'm only a year late, but I came across your site today and was shocked. Ever since I started detailing I've looked for something like this. Great site and great idea! Keep me (or this thread) posted to any new additions/changes, thanks!

What certifications can I get as a detailer?

Thanks for your input Mike! Keep the AG nation in the loop if you guys or anyone else decides to put together a certification course. I'd gladly travel for 2-3 days if it means getting certified and building credability in my company (but I know that just me and a handful of folks wouldn't...

What certifications can I get as a detailer?

I had a friend recently mention that I should look into getting ASE certified to beef up my detailing resume. I looked on ASE's site and found a program "collision repair and refinish". I assume much of this will cover the actual application of paint not just the detailing/proctecting portion...

    Okay, which hot water extractor?

I agree with the others in saving your cash and getting a Bissell. I purchased an Aztec, and although it does a "good" job, I honestly find using either Folex or DP's stain pretreater combined with a little elbow grease gets great results that are not far off from those with the Aztek. I have...

Suburban Rubber Door Trim...Need to remove marks

Just to conclude this post and a FYI - I went with Meguiar's 105 polish on these panels, and with some good ol' elbow grease I was able to remove 95% of the marks. :buffing:

The 4 minimum categories of wiping cloths

Mike, what cloth would you recommend when cleaning the engine compartment? Some engines I've cleaned are so bad that I would rather throw away the towel then get it anywhere near my washing machine. I was thinking maybe trying shop towels since I can dispose of them when I'm finished. Your...

    Windshield streaks in rain...Need Help!

Hey guys/girls, I tried the Bartender's Friend cleaner with no luck. I believe the windhshield is somewhat cleaner, but the streaks were still there. I then tried claying a section to see if that helped. The streaks were still very present in the glass when I finished cleaning, so out of...

    Windshield streaks in rain...Need Help!

Ever since I could remember with my truck I have had a large number of random streaks that appear on the windshield when it's raining out and I have to use my wiper blades. A few streaks wouldn't be an issue and I probably wouldn't even be posting this, but they've taken over almost the entire...

New Truck - Holograms after applying NXT 2.0

I looked over the tailgate panel today around noon and I'm glad to announce that there are no holograms (or hologram-ish marks)! After looking at the pics Mike posted, I have to believe these weren't holograms because of the isolated spots they appeared (not long trails like with the car above)...

New Truck - Holograms after applying NXT 2.0

After I posted this I thought exactly what many of you have mentioned...maybe I didn't get all of the wax off. Just to take any guesswork out of it I focused on my tailgate. I used 50/50 alcohol/water after I washed the panel. I used ny Flex w/ a Lake Country lt orange cutting pad and Meguiars...

New Truck - Holograms after applying NXT 2.0

I'm hoping someone can provide some insight and/or corrections on what I did wrong. This issue is extremely important because its MY truck that is showing the holograms. I recently cautiously washed my '09 Nissan pickup with a clean Shmitt and dried with a Cobra Microfiber towel. Shortly there...

Suburban Rubber Door Trim...Need to remove marks

The rubber trim is painted white. I am kicking myself for not snapping a couple pics, but unfortunately I won't have access to the car until the time of detailing (next week or two). I agree, I believe I am just going to proceed with a hand application of polish to start. Thanks for the...

    Rotary needed for oxidation?

Thanks Mike, great info as always! I am still a bit of a newb to professional detailing, so I believe I may have used the incorrect terminology. What problem I saw with the paint (that wasn't corrected after I was finished) was that there were many water marks still seen in the hood when the...

Suburban Rubber Door Trim...Need to remove marks

I am about to detail a white newer model Suburban that has a rubber-type trim that spans horizontally across the doors. I've encountered this before, but both vehicles were black so the marks weren't visible. I am hoping I can find anyone that has come across this and has a solution so I don't...

    Rotary needed for oxidation?

I am fairly new to detailing and am working with a Flex XC 3401 VRG. It has worked great on swirl marks but I am having trouble removing heavier oxodized area, especially on the hood. I have used Pinnacle Advanced Siwlrl Mark Remover, and Meguiars 105/205 with no luck. I would be up for learning...

    Are my windows messed up??

I had the same issue with a car I just detailed. I used Stoner's Auto Glass cleaner and it did nothing to the spots. I don't believe its sap, but as someone mentioned earlier, similar to hardwater spots. I didn't think to try polishing the windows...surprised since I used polish to succesfully...

    Fear To Flex

I used my new Flex for the first time this weekend and wasn't blown away with the results. I just sold my PC and made the upgrade since I am slowly getting into the mobile detailing business. What are the biggest advantages of the Flex over the PC? The Flex was a good bit heavier and wore on my...
