    Tacoma Exhaust Stain Problem

I agree with comments above. Maybe I should try a better sealant/coating...something that I can buff out without taking the chance on damaging paint. I also have considered cutting off the exhaust pipe under the truck bed and installing a decent looking turn down exhaust extension. Two reasons...

    Tacoma Exhaust Stain Problem

Here we go an old post that I made five years ago. I purchased a fourth white Tacoma in 2018. My wife still has her 2015 Tacoma. In the five years since my 2016 post, I still have not found a solution to this problem other than Ultimate Compound followed by an application of wax. Does anyone...

Replacement for a Meguiar's Versa Angle Wide Body Brush?

Most of you won't have any idea of what I'm talking about. In 2005, Meguiar's came out with a collection of wash brushes. I was a beta tester for these brushes as well as several other detailing products. The brushes were synthetic but they did not cause marring even on my black Ram Hemi. I...

    Buffing too much ?

Not on this Tacoma. Minor dust nibs can be leveled with very careful wet sanding. As a matter of fact, I have a very small paint flaw were a dust nib was wet sanded level at the factory. (Yes, I am sure that it was done at the factory.) It actually shows a spot of primer coming through. I...

    Buffing too much ?

Dust nibs under the paint. Most likely from the factory and quite likely under both the base coat and clear coat. Don't mess with them. My white Tacoma has about a half dozen of them but most normal folks would never see them.

    Buffing too much ?

To the OP: Saw your post on the Tacoma forum. I too have a Tacoma (a 2018). My wife has had five of them. I don't know how many times I have used a DA polisher on these trucks. Mostly just with a polishing compound. So far you apparently have done no damage. Not an ad for Meguiar's, but I...

ONR and Meg's Ultimate Liquid Wax

Thanks for your reply. The paint is free of contaminants. Tomorrow will be a "wax day".

ONR and Meg's Ultimate Liquid Wax

Just used the coin-op to get the big stuff off my Tacoma. Need to finish up with ONR Wash and Shine (not Wash and Wax). Will Meg's Ultimate Liquid Wax work OK with this no rinse wash or should I apply a cleaner wax like Meg's Mirror Bright Polishing Wax instead. This will be the final wax...

Question - Megs Ultimate Wash & Wax

Don't feel bad about using Meg's products. I have used them almost exclusively since the early 1970's. They work and I trust the company.

    Lime/calcium blotches on car?

Re: Lime/calcium blotches on car? Update The stains definitely were calcium/lime deposits from the parking gargage. They were not heavily crusted and were about the thickness of a layer of paint. A 100% white vinegar solution worked...no distilled water, no ISO alcohol. I heated vinegar to...

    Lime/calcium blotches on car?

A little change in direction to the post. I'll probably not use the CLR and will stick with various solutions of vinegar. I have a bunch of stuff packed for this little detailing venture...just in case . I'll be using a pc and have packed 5 1/2 inch and 4 inch Lake Country flat pads, the new 5...

    Lime/calcium blotches on car?

If you do try the CLR, let us know how it works. It may save me a bit of time when I work on my daughter's car.

    Lime/calcium blotches on car?

For what it's worth. Today I showed the pics of my daughter's car to a friend of mine who own a pro-detail shop. He immediately recognized that indeed this was calcium/lime crud from a parking garage. He says that his shop deals with this problem frequently, especially in the winter and...

    Lime/calcium blotches on car?

Thanks so much. I'll be in Minneapolis over Easter and will see what I can do. It gives me a chance to be a "dad" again. Over the years I have spent many hours on her vehicles...and she knows that I am much better at it than her husband, a great guy but not a "car nut". I'll let you know how...

    Lime/calcium blotches on car?

Minneapolis...about three miles from downtown. I'll start the correction with my "mild stuff" and work up as needed.
