You could try taping the switches to kill the lights. If it pushes too hard put a penny or something behind the tape.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if the plastic trim that matches the paint was actually painted, or, infused/dyed- mixed into the plastic. Is it painted and clear coated on top, the same as the metal? Just wondering.. Thanks again.
