    Pneumatic -vs- Electronic DA sanders?

Hi Mike, I'm going to be up your way this week and would like to stop by and buy some products based on my plan to restore my gelcoat (see post with a,b,c steps listed above). Do you feel the approach I mentioned there is valid? And based on that approach, do you have any idea how many sanding...

Opti-coat 2.0 right for RV side panels????

Chris- So despite the water beating the finish (considering the the gelcoat finished with Opticoat would be the sidewalls of the boat) -- the Opticoat can stand-up to all of this harsh treatment? What sort of of longevity would you expect, considering the harsh composition of the water (heavy...

    Pneumatic -vs- Electronic DA sanders?

Hi Mike, Thank you for the reply and clarification. Regarding the first coat being the most important .. I have oxidation that appear to be much worse than the initial photos of your Deville. Worse yet, I have some fairly deep scratches that are probably 1/3 of the way through the gel coat...

    Pneumatic -vs- Electronic DA sanders?

Hi Mike, Thanks a million for taking the time to reply. By the way, off-topic, I'm down here in Palm Beach County, and I always wondered if you have a storefront there, or whether AutoGeek.net is virtual-only? In my original post, I was referring to the 1967 Starline Deville post you quoted...

Opti-coat 2.0 right for RV side panels????

Bob - We have the same Rialta, will be trying the same technique on Chris' advice. Chris - Will the Opti-Coat also work on the fiberglass (gelcoat) panels as well as the metal? If so, would Opti-Coat also be a good solution for gel-coat boats, or would you recommend something else?

    Pneumatic -vs- Electronic DA sanders?

Thank you for the comments (and the link to the related post). I realize now, that I've only used my DA in a on/off environment, rather than consistently. Although the CFM requirement of most pneumatic sanders is enough to be servied by a mid-size 15amp compressor, it would be a pain if the...

    Pneumatic -vs- Electronic DA sanders?

I'm about to begin a gelcoat restore on my boat. I'm not a professional detailer, simply an avid car/boat enthusiast who likes to keep his stuff shiney. I was looking through AutoGeek to determine the best products for restoring gelcoat and I noticed that Mike used the Griot's DA unit. I...

    Exquisite Vinyl Cleaner, AutoGeek Comparable

Awesome suggestions, thanks a million! I researched Optimum Power Clean on your suggestions, and I have to say it sounds like a perfect alternative. I'll buy it and report back. Regarding the 303, while we're on the topic of Optimum products... Is there any advantage, in an outdoor...

    Exquisite Vinyl Cleaner, AutoGeek Comparable

I own a wakeboard boat (2005 Supra Launch 21V) and have noticed that on the wakeboard forums, everyone raves about the "Exquisite" Vinyl Cleaner for Boats. I don't think I've ever seen so many people on the various boating forums agree on anything, as much as they endorse this product. Because...
