    Thoughts about car covers

    California Car Cover has their Stormweave model that they say protects against minor dents and dings because of the thick material that it's made from. It's the one I've had my eye on for this very reason because my truck sits outside and hail is becoming more frequent where I'm at.

    Glare brand polish. For those that haven't heard of it, you can Google Glare and read up on it.

    Exterior plastic and rubber trim?

    For plastic and some metals I use SolutionsFinish but not on rubber. For that I've had good luck with Collinite 845 or 476S. I wash with a good quality car shampoo and then follow the application directions for both.

    SolutionsFinish. A tad pricey, but it does work, has minimal runoff from rain and I've waxed over it with Collinite 845 and 476S more than a few times. Latest was yesterday.

    I've used 845 and it's paste twin 476S on plastic and rubber trim with no problems. F150 SuperCrew with black textured mirror housings and door handles and never a problem.

    when to 'tape-off'

    I apply Collinite 845 and 476S to the glass, all plastic trim, including the plastic mirror housings and door handles, all rubber trim and all chrome. This is on an 05 Ford SuperCrew. Almost forgot, I also coat my rims with it.

    I've replaced Dawn with Ultra Gain, has on the bottle that it's a hand soap and a dishwashing liquid. It does better on washing dishes and it's a buck cheaper at Dollar General where I'm at.
