    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

I'll look for the 3M green tape because, blue one really sucks wet. That is true! Biggest problems are with circle-shaped headlights. Thanks for the Tip. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find 2500+grit sanding papers. Trizac would be imposible as that is something even more special. So i...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

Thanks, Part-timer. My client decided to move the date for the restoration 'till Sunday. So i have a little more time to prepare myself a little more. I'll do a test using a 70/30 mix (my daily-beaten driver already needs a restoration). I normally do 50/50, or around 60/50, depending on...

Guys! Tomorrow i am gonna do a Porsche Boxster 2008 headlight restoration! It's kinda rare to see this type of vehicle here in my town, and in Mexico in general. I am a little excited!! I am wondering if any of you has tried doing 2 coats of spar/ms mix. Any advice on that? This client i am...

    Questions regarding headlight restoration

Hi AG followers! A young man here asking for some new tips and tricks regarding headlight restoration. I run a mobile headlight restoration business. I first started doing a simple buffing with a drill and a wool pad. I decided there had to be more secrets than just buffing a headight for...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

Ok guys, long time since i visited the thread. I just updated myself from around page 94 - 95 up to 101... My only question right now is about the part where you have to clean the headlights before coating, you all mention alcohol is better than OMS. 100% alcohol/propanol was mentioned... anyone...

Headlight sealant: spar urethane vs. opti coat 2.0

You gotta renew the seal 'cause it's leaking water inside the lights. Condensation on headlights is a common problem, and it is mostly fixed by taking lights out of the car, then take apart the polycarbonate cover and the base of the light, cleaning, eliminating dried out silicone, and applying...

    Headlight adventure

What about uploading some photos? I can say that the two headlights are clear on vertical surface, and faded in horizontal ones. Am i right? :)

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

The first headlight resto job i did was on my own car. And i decided to to 1 headlight sand/spar and the other one sand/buff/spar. What about doing both methods like me? It has been 4 months and a 1/2 since i restored 'em and, they both looking good. They seem equally in appearance.

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

In all the headlights i've restored, i always used only 1 coat of spar/ms. My restored ones have passed over 5 months test pretty good, and they are still holding up. And for me it seems that even if you try to touch up a missed spot before 10 seconds, it streaks. So yeah, the best way is to...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

It may be the angle, i have seen headlights pretty faded in horizontal surfaces, and in flawless status in vertical surfaces. But i think that, in this case, maybe after sanding and/or buffing, the surface wasn't prepped with Minireal Spirits to eliminate any compound/sanding oils/residues...

Oh, and which process did you followed? Was it buffed out or not? I am currently looking forward into knowing wich one is more durable, sand/buff/spar or sand/spar. At least in apearance. For me it seems that when using sand/spar method, apearance is affected in about 6 months. And when using...

Shouldn't Spar & MS mix be like an amber color? MS is clear/transparent, like water, and feels oily when you touch it. Spar is about amber or yellow. When I mix the 2, i get an amber color. I've been using this method for the past 3 months and I've had no troubles; results are impressive! Is...

Bit the bullet and did the Spar Urethane/Min Spirits thing...

Is the old T-Shirt Method better than the Rag of Blue Towels? For applying Urethane Mix. And hey guys, i found a Grit Equivalent Chart for Scotch Brite products... It seems that blue pad used on the FCD Method is equivalent to 1000 grit sandpaper. Here is the Chart: SCOTCHBRITE GRIT CHART...

I go up to 2500, and then clean/prep surface with OMS, and finally apply spar urethane. The reason why i don't use 3000 is 'cause i can't find any 3000 grit sandpaper here in my Country (I am not from USA). I usually use 400, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500. Sometimes i meet headlights with paint...

I use urethane, too. I charge between $35 to $50. I agree with you about 50 for half an hour, is pretty good money! Even though it takes me about an hour, or an hour and 20 minutes. I offer a Mobil Headlight Resto Service. Do you wetsand, and apply spar urethane? Or do you wetsand, buff, and...
