new car from factory, panels untouched thus far - seeking advice

Hello, we just took possession of our long awaited, custom ordered cabriolet. We've had the car a couple weeks and I've yet to touch the panels regarding hand washing. It's been several vehicles ago since I've wanted to be very particular on the upkeep of the paint and washing routine. In...

newer boat - best for removing water spots?

I'm close to finishing my bottle of Collinite 840 which is what I've mostly used on removing my water spots on the gel coat of our 2015 boat. It's done a pretty decent job, although it does take a good amount of elbow grease when doing it by hand. I'm curious if anyone has used any other...

Regardless of the time needed to re apply the protection....Which of the products provide better protection? The DG501 or the collinite tandem?

    gelcoat preservation

Hello, which of the products in my picture would you use to get the best results for cleaning and protection on my boat? This is a new boat with no oxidation problems. Collinite 840 cleaner followed by the 476s wax or the DuraGloss 501? Thank you

water spot trouble - 2014 boat

Thanks, here's more of the green color - http://www.cs2photography.com/3.jpg FYI - the 476 is a great product and does indeed last a long time. The 476 may very well be the reason my waterspots came off so easily with the vinegar.

water spot trouble - 2014 boat

The vinegar solution worked wonders!! I worked on the boat all weekend and am pleased with the results. I did find some areas that I'd like to hit with a wool pad, but I only have the PC7424. Can I get some good results using a wool pad with a DA or do I really need to invest in a rotary?

water spot trouble - 2014 boat

The vinegar is working nicely - any suggestions on how to apply this? I'm spraying about a 3' x 3' area and letting is stand for a bout 2 to 3 minutes then using a microfiber to wipe dry. I'm not diluting, I'm using 100% white vinegar. If there are better applications or techniques using...

water spot trouble - 2014 boat

Are the Kaboom and ZEP products gel coat safe? Do they need to be applied with caution. Since these are made for something other than automotive/marine use, I would assume there is no caution or directions for application. Do you simply wipe on, wipe off - do you put the product on a pad and...

water spot trouble - 2014 boat

We've kept our boat in storage this Summer and we brought it back this weekend, unfortunately I'm unable to remove my water spots with the products pictured. The good thing about leaving the boat in storage at the lake (two states away) is that I don't have to trailer it back and forth each...

which microfiber for DG 501 application

I was curious what a good microfiber cloth would be used for the application of liquid waxes/cleaners would be? I've got a bunch of the super plush purple Cobras and they are absolutely wonderful for final drying after the Water Sprite and for knocking off the haze from my waxes. I'd like to...

    Not sure about Duragloss #501?

Any thoughts on using my Collinite 840 prior to the DG501? Will this be a little over kill on the cleaning part and simply wasting product (the Collinite 840) since I'll be using a cleaner/polisher anyway with my 501? Thanks!!

    scratches (imbedded)

UPDATE - this was a VERY EXPENSIVE trip to the dealership. Good news!! The owner of the dealership did not like the scratches he saw and needed professional advise from a local 'glass' guy. The owner's thoughts and fears were that this came from the factory this way. Once the 'glass' guy...

    scratches (imbedded)

How do you determine if the gel coat is thick enough for me to try the wetsanding? Do I assume that since the boat is only 2 years old that the gel coat is thick enough or is there a device to gauge/measure thickness?
