Customer spilled gas in trunk, suggestions??

So, a regular customer spilled a small amount of.gas in thier trunk. It's lined with that thin felt like material. I'm wondering what you all would suggest for cleaning as well as getting the smell out.

How to charge for a SEMI!!?

Welp, this was some interesting work! 3 Semi Trucks later, I'm pretty impressed with the way they turned out, and definitely made some solid money in the process. The owner seemed very happy with the results, but it kinda looked like he was taking notes on everything I was doing; probably...

How to charge for a SEMI!!?

Mike, what is your rate per foot? I was thinking of a round figure of $350 for a light interior cleaning plus the wash and wax. It sounds like I might be a little low on that number though. Keep the input coming guys, I REALLY appreciate it!

How to charge for a SEMI!!?

I met with a guy yesterday who has a LOT of semis he needs interior detailing done as well as washed and either waxed, or a full compound/polish/wax, depending on how the prices work out. Have any of you ever handled anything that size? Where were your prices landing? I've got some numbers in...

    Stains on plastic "chrome"?

I've got a customer that called the other day and said he used some bug and tar remover on the grill and mirror caps on his Tundra. They're plastic chrome, and he's telling me it seems to have left some staining or possibly dis-colored the chrome finish. I haven't had a chance to get him in...

    That first year...

Sorry for not getting back to this for so darn long! Paul, very informative response! Lots of good stuff to digest! Things have actually been insanely dead, much to my surprise. I've spent whole days on foot plastering local businesses with my info and getting to know people in the area...

How to make your hobby spending tax deductable

Yep, gotta watch those numbers. Write offs are great, but don't overdo it. You gotta show a profit at some point.

    Who hosts your website?

I'm actually looking at them right now. It looks like for about the same money I can have a legit site, and own my domain. Now what to do about all the promotional stuff I've get with the old site... Maybe I'll keep that up with a link to the new one for a little while.

    Who hosts your website?

Currently, i have a cheapy website through Vistaprint. It does the job, but isn't super awesome to look at. I like it because i can build and work on it myself, so I'd like to stick with something like that, I just want to make it not suck. I don't have a budget to hire someone so that's why...

going to start a part time detailing business this summer... input please

I bought a package of 24 at Auto Zone last week for $17. Different colors like I wanted, and they do the job. No need to dump a ton of money on these things.

What kind of shoes keep your feet dry?

Thanks a ton for all the ideas! I'm gonna have to try something soon, that's for sure. My regular shoes are getting flat out disgusting! To you guys that wear sandals; don't your feet get cold from being wet all the time? Aside from that, they seem like a great idea!

    Really needing help !!

Yeah dude, there NO WAY I'm messing with shampooing and headliner in a regular package. That's gotta be adding a couple hours to your job! As mentioned before, a stiff brush makes the vacuum job much easier and a much better finished product.

Auto Zone getting in the game...

The 105 is 31.99, and the 205 is 24.99. All the other prices seemed incredibly reasonable. I've got a rewards card there too, so this is gonna start to pay off for sure! They also had a Surehold polisher. Looked like they just got a couple bottles of each to try it out, so I'm gonna get some...

Here's the best suggestion I can give about what products to get and how to use them: Don't spend a fortune, but get everything you this.k you might need and then a few things you don't think you need. Next, experiment on your own car! Hands on learning!

3 mistakes that sink detailing businesses.

I totally agree. I spend a lot of time explaining to people why drive thru car washes are down right evil for your car, and how the brush at the do it yourself is no better. Most people get it, a few of them stop doing it. A vehicle is a terrible purchase as investments go, so you might as...
