It depends on what your goal is, I personally would not use this product for correction, since it is also a glaze. This is more of a product for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of time correcting the paint but wants a showroom look from waxing. The polishing step is like an added bonus.

What about a toothpick? Can I just go in there and pick out the edges with a toothpick? I mean the paint is already etched anyway. A toothpick dipped in some mineral spirits should work.

I think clay should be used before, not after. Most of the iron will be out after clay, and the iron X will do a better job removing whatever is left. That's just me, I use the speedy prep towels so I don't have to worry about contaminating the clay...
