Flex 3401 generates a lot of heat?!

Sounds like a good idea with the grease. I'm going to try the same and see what happens. I'll post back with my results. I'm also going to try an aluminum bolt/fastener to hold the backing plate on hoping to dissipate the heat a little better.

Please tell me I'm not alone.

ever since I removed the RIDS on my Silverado with my Flex, I always stare at the paint in the sunlight and see if I can find any I missed. Yep, I have got home washed, clayed and re-polished. It's totally worth the trouble. Staring at perfectly worked paint is intoxicating. Very easy to get...

Flex 3401 generates a lot of heat?!

OEM plate. To avoid any confusion from my other post, pad mount = backing plate. Autogeek is sending out a replacement and I will send them the old one--thanks again Nick. I sent all the particulars on operational configuration to AG at the time of failure. The Flex is a great machine and I'm...

Flex 3401 generates a lot of heat?!

Maybe I spoke prematurely on this issue. Using my Flex a few weekends ago I had a malfunction. The plastic pad mount actually became dislodged off the machine. The plastic retaining boss that sits below the allen bolt and washer, which is part of the pad mount, actually melted resulting in the...

Worst interior I have encountered so far...

Someone needs to walk for a summer and learn a lesson, to do that to a borrowed vehicle is a total lack of respect and personal responsibility. My children knew better than that by age 3. That's an A++ detailing job! You're better person than I. A pressure washer and some bleach would have been...

    Wolfgangs 8oz Swirl Remover

I finally got my Silverado straightened out. An orange pad and WGTSR and it looks better than new. As Mark stated, the WGTSR cut is determined by the pad the user selects. As you get the pad primed, you only need three pea sized dots on your pad to continue polishing. It's good you have been...

    A little guidance please

Did the two bucket wash, microfiber towel dry, clay, before buffing the first time. I did do a test spot and it appeared that the orange pad was producing satisfactory results. I was working in the garage under fluorescent lighting maybe that messed me up? Anyhow, pulled it in the sun and the...

    A little guidance please

Hey folks, I just used my 3401 for the first time. Actually, my very first time using any type of mechanical polisher. Here's where I'm at. I'm using light cut polish from a company called Hi-Temp out of Omaha, Nebraska. I have orange, white and blue Lake Country CCS pads. The paint has minor...

Flex 3401 generates a lot of heat?!

according to Flex the tool monitors for overload/overheat conditions. If the Flex is having the mentioned issues it automatically slows the RPM until it cools to a pre-determined temperature. So, if it's not dropping RPM on it's own one is led to believe it's o.k. I'm assuming the...

    Throwing in the towel...

I know it's tough. I spent 25-years in the military and have injuries similar to spiney Dave. The injuries you cam't see hurt me the most. Helping at the local soup kitchen, mentoring teens, church, family and being nice to myself helps me get by. Be nice to yourself, take a break and relax...

    Hi-Temp products

been using their products since the mid-90's. The HT-61, light cut polish works very well as does the HT-62 terminator paint sealant. The trade secret carnuba wax is excellent. Grape tire dressing is good, bug removal juice the same. I have never had a bad product from them. Items are very...

    Flex 3401 RPM & OPM

Mike, My apology in having you re-write the info. I looked through the posts last night and must have missed your post. I'll blame it on a huge box that arrived yesterday from PBMG. I did get the backing system and 4" pads. I'm waiting on the 50-degree weather and rain to clear then I'll be...

    Flex 3401 RPM & OPM

Good Afternoon everyone, Just got my flex polisher, pads, polish, glaze, ect. yesterday afternoon. The living room looked like Christmas morning. :xyxthumbs: I'm a little stumped over some polisher specifications, here is what I know so far: Speed RPM (revolution) OPM (orbits) 1...
